Abstract:
A piston pin hole boring system and method of forming pin holes therewith includes fixing a piston to a fixture supported by a slide member. Then, rotating a cutting member about a first axis and moving the slide member with the fixture thereon toward the cutting member along the first axis and bringing the piston into cutting contact with the cutting member. Further, moving the fixture along second and third axes, each extending transversely to the first axis and machining the desired pin hole contours in the piston with the cutting member.
Abstract:
A centerless grinding machine comprises a stationary disk, a following disk, and a shoe, which cooperate to hold and rotate a workpiece. The following disk is mechanically loaded to the bias towards the stationary disk and the shoe so that the workpiece is secured between an outer circumference of the disks and the shoe. A diameter detector detects an outside diameter of the workpiece by detecting a displacement of the following disk by the workpiece. From this information, a controller controls an X-Z grinder to grind an inner surface of the workpiece. This grinding is in response to the outside detector detected by the diameter detector. As a result, the inner diameter can be machines to closer tolerances than are available in the outer diameter.
Abstract:
A centerless work-holding apparatus or fixture for a machine tool for holding work in a working position radially and axially relative to a reference axis with work-driving by use of rolls and an axially and rotatably movable rotor element which is fluid-actuated for releasably clamping the workpieces during work thereon. The rotor element has a flange which provides areas on opposite sides thereof for actuating it with fluid under pressure. These areas are individually greater than the profile area or transverse dimensional area of the workpieces so that very small workpieces can be individually held by the pressure of the fluid actuating the rotor element.
Abstract:
A machining device includes: a spindle unit including a spindle that rotates a workpiece; and a device base having the spindle unit mounted thereon. The spindle unit includes upper and lower rolls that rotate the workpiece by contacting the workpiece, upper and lower rotary shafts that rotate integrally with the upper and lower rolls and serves as the spindle, and a support member that supports the workpiece. The device base has mounted thereon the spindle unit, a motor that rotates the upper and lower rotary shafts, and a grindstone to be brought into contact with the workpiece. The spindle unit is detachably mounted on the device base.
