Abstract: An apparatus is provided for forming cutting edges including a grinding stage. The grinding stage includes abrading wheels with a strip receiving end configured to receive a strip with a first profile along a path P and a strip exiting end. Axes of the abrading wheels are oriented at a tilt angle relative to the path P. Lands are provided on each abrading wheel with an abrasive surface that varies from fine to coarse in a direction from the strip receiving end to the strip exiting end. The lands are arranged in a spiral helix such that the helix is a right-handed thread on one wheel and a left-handed thread on the other wheel. An improvement is also provided for a system for removing material from a strip of metal incident on the system along a path P.

Abstract: A gear grinding machine uses a grindstone tool, having an outer circumference that includes a thread, to grind a tooth surface of a gear workpiece. In this case, coolant is supplied toward the tooth surface from a trailing side in a rotation direction of the gear workpiece through a space between the grindstone tool and the gear workpiece. The coolant is drawn into the meshing portion between the grindstone tool and the gear workpiece by the rotation of the gear workpiece and the movement of the thread of the grinding tool.

Abstract: A device for grinding pre-milled and hard metal-tipped teeth of saw bands, is provided. The device comprises a feed device for feeding a temporarily formed workpiece in a timed manner, wherein the temporarily formed workpiece is formed from a plurality of saw bands which are parallel to one another. The device further comprises a clamping device which clamps the plurality of saw bands against one another, and a grinding unit for simultaneously grinding a plurality of teeth. The grinding unit comprises a grinding wheel with a plurality of grinding profiles. A corresponding method is also provided, where the grinding unit grinds both the tooth backs and the tooth faces to final dimension in exactly one linear movement.

Abstract: A grinding device for raised joints of rivets on sheet metal is provided, including a lateral plate, legs, a moving plate, first springs, a first bearing seat, a sleeve, a grinding wheel, a moving bar, a 7-shaped plate, a vertical bar, a second spring, an oscillating plate, etc. The legs are fixedly connected, in a symmetric manner, to left and right sides of the bottom of the lateral plate. A through hole, which has a function of guiding, is formed on a left side of the lateral plate. The moving bar is located in the through hole. In the present disclosure, a driving motor is started to rotate the grinding wheel, the grinding device is moved to enable the grinding wheel to be located above a raised joint, and then the oscillating plate is pulled so that the grinding wheel can move downward to grind the raised joint.

Abstract: A method of repairing a defect in a damaged rail of a railroad track comprises positioning a rail profiling device on the rails of the railroad track proximate a defect; securing the rail profiling device to the railroad; adjusting its grinder according to a selected value of wheel cone angle to create a profiled running surface over a portion of the damaged rail; creating a median zone using the grinder to remove material from the damaged rail adjacent the defect at a depth corresponding to at least a maximum depth of the defect; creating an incline from the top of the rail and leading to the median zone and one incline leaving the median zone to the top of the rail by using the grinder to grinding material off the damaged rail.

Abstract: A method of making a longitudinal reinforcing structure for a wind turbine blade. The method comprises a) providing an elongate master strip (62) of reinforcing material having substantially flat first and second surfaces, the distance between the first and second surfaces defining the thickness of the master strip; and b) dividing the master strip transversely to form a first strip and a shorter master strip, the respective strips being arranged end to end such that a trailing end of the first strip is located adjacent a new leading end of the master strip. The step of dividing the master strip comprises removing material from a dividing region extending through the entire thickness of the master strip, wherein the dividing region is shaped such that a chamfer (19c) at the trailing end (19b) of the first strip is created and a chamfer (63a) at the new leading end (63) of the master strip is created when the master strip is divided.
