    摘要: A rotating filter apparatus is disclosed having a stack of sintered filter discs mounted on a vertical, rotatable hollow shaft and located within a chamber, the shaft having a plurality of radial openings therein to the hollow bore of the shaft. Unfiltered fluid is introduced under pressure to a tangential entry port in the same direction as disc rotation. The shaft is rotated at a speed sufficient to create a water boundry on the surface to aid the filtering of particles. The clean filtered fluid flows inwardly through the discs and down through the shaft, while the unfiltered fluid and the solid particles, or sludge materials, descend in the chamber to the bottom of a concentration chamber, which includes inwardly slanted sidewalls. The free-flowing sludge flows out of an outlet connection, with the more solid sludge taken out either through a hydrocyclone or a tapered auger connection. The clean fluid is taken out of a discharge chamber surrounding the bottom of the shaft, the bottom of the shaft being angularly slotted to create a suction on the shaft at this location. Cartridge seals provide mounting for the shaft and periodic back pulsing is provided to dislodge lodged particles from the discs.

    摘要: A serum and cell separating and dispensing device comprising an elongated tubular vessel partitioned throughout its length forming two distinct compartments containing vent orifices on either side. One opened end of the vessel is fitted with a resilient element containing a larger and smaller orifice which houses a small and large pore filter respectively. These orifices communicate with the two compartments respectively. At the opposite end of the vessel are two small tubular vessels extending from and communicating with the compartments formed by the partition. Blood drawn in an evacuated collection tube such as Becton Dickinson's vacutainer is centrifuged after clotting. The device is forced into the opened end of the collection tube and pressed downwardly. The resilient element forms an air trap by touching the inner wall of the collection tube and serum is forced through the orifices containing the filters. Due to the pore size of the filters and the size of the orifices, serum and cells become located within the separate compartments. One may tilt the assembly in one direction allowing drops of serum to be dispensed whereas turning the assembly in another direction allows dispensing of cells. In this manner blood samples from patients may be dispensed for crossmatching purposes without using the usual droppers. At the same time integrity of patients identification is maintained.

The plate defines a means for deflecting the oil immediately ahead of the filter so that the full flow pressure of the oil does not impinge directly against the filter.

    摘要: A filter apparatus has an elongated shaft, a plurality of filtering elements mounted on the shaft and spaced from one another in direction of elongation of the latter, and means for cleaning the filtering elements. The cleaning means includes a source of cleaning medium under elevated pressure and a plurality of nozzle elements communicating with this source. The nozzle elements face toward surfaces of filtering material provided on the filter elements and are turnable relative to these surfaces. The cleaning medium is ejected from the nozzle elements at a pressure between substantially 5 and 100 bar toward the surfaces of the filtering material of the filter elements so that the cleaning medium removes a cake deposited during a filtering process from the surfaces of the filtering material and thereupon also cleans the filtering material of the filter elements.

    摘要: A water intake screen installation has a traveling water screen unit, that is positioned between a water intake and a stream of water flowing in a channel, to strain a quantity of water diverging from the channel stream towards the water intake. The screen unit includes an endless belt strainer in the form of a loop and a drive for revolving the strainer. The strainer has a screening surface, that extends in a predetermined direction of stream flow in the channel and in an upwardly direction. Means are provided for directing a backwash current, through the screening surface, towards the stream of water flowing in the channel, at an elevation below the stream surface. Material, such as refuse and aquatic life, retained on the screening surface can be dislodged by the backwash current. This current forces such material backwardly from the screening surface, into the stream of water flowing in the channel, to be carried away therewith. Also disclosed is a method of straining water from a stream with the above described screening installation that enables water to be drawn from the stream without the removal of aquatic life and refuse.

Mixing the clean slurry from the hydrocyclone separators with the liquid coming through the gleaned screen for return for use in the wellbore. Also discloses specialized apparatus used in the method.
