摘要: A rotary drill bit (10) has a jet pump device including a plurality of jet pump assemblies (26). Each jet pump assembly (26) has an outer housing (28) secured to the bit body (14) and receiving any elongate nozzle member (46) therein in concentric relation to form an annular chamber (48) therein. A flow restriction (38) is mounted within the outer housing (28) above the nozzle member (46). The elongate nozzle member (46) has a lower nozzle port (50) and an opposed upper nozzle port (52). Drilling fluid from the central bore (20) is directed to the nozzle member (46) where the drilling fluid is divided into two streams, one stream for flow through lower nozzle port (50) against the formation and the outer stream for flow through the upper nozzle port (52) and flow restriction (38) to create a low pressure area or suction in an annular chamber (48). A low pressure cross sectional area is formed at the bottom of the bore hole (B, FIG. 4) and drilling fluid with entrained formation cuttings is drawn upwardly through the annular chamber (48) and the flow restriction (38).

摘要: A liquid cleaning system for liquid that is substantially continuously circulated and which becomes contaminated with solid particulate and debris during circulation. The liquid cleaning system, which is particularly advantageous to cleaning liquid that is circulated within a petroleum well bore during completion and workover activities, incorporates a vibratory screen separator for accomplishing preliminary separation of large particulate and debris from the contaminated liquid and which also incorporates a filtration bank having a plurality of filters that are each interconnected with inlet discharge and drain headers. Filter bank incorporates a valving system having the capability of accomplishing backflushing by circulating clean fluid in reverse manner through selected ones of the filters to remove collected solid particulate therefrom and transport the removed particulate to the drain header. The drain header is interconnected with a centrifugal solids separation system that separates a majority of the solid particulate material from the backflushing fluid and transports the backflushing fluid back through the filter bank for cleaning thereof. The filter bank is designed for selective backflushing of individual filters thereof while at the same time maintaining continuous filtering activities by means of other filters in order that the liquid circulation system may function in continuous manner without necessitating any downtime for restoration of the filtration system.

摘要: A continuous static mixing apparatus includes mixing disks. Each of the mixing disks has a set of symmetrically distributed nozzles therein that accelerate the flow and that create a mixing turbulence in the flow. Typically, the mixing apparatus combines the outlet flows of the mixing disks to provide a collision therebetween and, thus, increased turbulence and mixing. Communication passageways connect the material supplies to the mixing apparatus and direct the materials through the mixing disk. The materials may be combined either upstream or downstream of the mixing disks. An eductor may be used to combine the materials upstream of the mixing disks.

摘要: An eductor mixing device (10) has a main body or housing (28) of a generally cylindrical shape and an inner tube (42) for one component to be mixed with a liquid is mounted in main body (28) with a vortex chamber (56) formed in an annulus between the main body (28) and the inlet flow tube (42). Pressurized liquid enters the vortex chamber through a generally rectangular entrance opening (36) along an arcuate surface (42) which smoothly merges with the cylindrical surface (30) of the main body or housing (28). A liquid in a swirling motion moves in a descending helical path about inner tube (42) and passes through a gap G between coaxial frusto-conical surfaces (55) and (68) of the converging inner nozzle (52) of the inner tube (42) and an outer coaxial liquid nozzle (60) of diffuser ring (58) . A high velocity is created by the swirling liquid for exerting a suction or negative pressure at the lower end of inner nozzle (52) to draw the component to be mixed, such as a particulate material, into the swirling liquid stream where the swirling liquid and particulate material form a strong vortex to create a slurry in a minimal travel distance after passing inner converging nozzle (52) of particulate inner tube (42).

摘要: A filter system including an elongated cylindrical vessel body having a flow inlet connected to inlet conduit, a flow outlet connected to an outlet conduit, a closed end, and a movable cover member. The conduits are adapted for respective connection to control valves. A hinge connects the cover member to the vessel body for pivoting the cover member from closed position to open position. A solids separator element disposed within the body has a hollow porous member attached about periphery of a support ring. The support ring has an annular flat surface abutting an annular flat surface of the support flange. An arcuate resilient spring is connected to opposite sides of the support ring and extends to be forcefully deformed against the inner side of the cover member when cover member is closed.

摘要: An improved fluid mixing nozzle and method, in which a first fluid flows therefrom to mix with a second fluid external the nozzle, for inducing vortex creation and chaotic turbulent flow. The nozzle has a body with a cavity extending therethrough from the inlet end to the outlet end. The cross sectional area of the inlet orifice of the nozzle is greater than its outlet orifice cross sectional area. The outlet orifice cross section area shape has a substantially circular central portion and at least one (but typically more than one) protrusion extending from the perimeter of the central portion. Generally, the protrusions are smaller in cross sectional area than the central portion, are equally spaced about the central portion perimeter, and have a length to width ratio from 1 to 2. Functionally applying the above described nozzle is a method of improved mixing, of creating chaotic turbulent flow, and of inducing vortex creation.

摘要: Discloses apparatus for separating the solids from a liquid of a sludge or slurry which includes a slurry source, a slurry container receiving slurry from the source and a filter cage removably mounted inside the container. The filter cage includes a cage frame, a supported screen liner mounted within the cage and a filter liner removably fitted inside the liner. The container has a liquid drainage conduit removably connected to a suction device for removing liquid from the drainage chamber. The container is constructed and adapted to be picked up, carried about, and tilted to remove solid material deposited within the filter cage. The filter cage is constructed and adapted to be hoisted up out of the container and separately moved about and tilted to remove solids deposited within the filter cage. A liquid injection apparatus may be provided for injecting a selected amount of a flocculating agent into the slurry received into the container to cause flocculation of solid particles in the slurry. Also discloses the steps of the method of extracting liquid from a slurry and disposing the remaining solids.
