Abstract:
A continuous microfiltration machine for removing suspended solid particles from process and waste water comprises a container (2) with an inlet conduit (4) defining a flow direction (F), and having therein an influent chamber (7) for feeding the liquid to be filtered, a treatment chamber (8) with a bottom wall (9), at least one pair of filter disks (10) keyed to a shaft (12) perpendicular to the flow direction (F) and having inner filter surfaces (10′) outer surfaces (10″) and outer peripheral edges (15) in sliding contact with the bottom wall (9), an effluent chamber (17) for receiving the filtered liquid, with a discharge conduit (18), drive means (13, 14) for imparting rotation to the disks, first jet washing means (20) directed against the outer surfaces (10″) of the disks (10) for removing the particles retained thereby, a first collecting duct (24) for collecting the removed particles, which is interposed between the disks (10) and has substantially parallel side edges (25) located at a predetermined minimum distance (D) from the inner surfaces (10′) of the disks (10). The inner surfaces (10′) of the disks are substantially flat and continuous surfaces, with a flatness error (ε) smaller than said predetermined minimum distance (D).
Abstract:
A rotary disc filter device includes a rotor rotatable about an axis of rotation. The rotor includes a plurality of disc-shaped filter members, each disc-shaped filter member having a frame. The frame is made of sheet metal elements which are connected with each other by rivets.
Abstract:
Methods and devices for preparing a solid-fibrin web are provided. One method may include drawing blood from a patient, separating plasma from the blood, contacting the plasma with a calcium-coagulation activator and concurrently coagulating and axially centrifuging the plasma to form the solid-fibrin web. The solid-fibrin web may be suitable for regenerating body tissue in a living organism. Devices used in the methods may also be provided.

Abstract:
A rotary disc filter is provided with a system for inhibiting biological fouling from biological growth on filters that form a part of the rotary disc filter. A biocide is pumped from a biocide supply tank to a manifold and mixed with a backwash to form a backwash-biocide solution. The backwash-biocide solution is sprayed onto filter media during a backwashing operation and the presence of the biocide inhibits and eliminates biological growth on the filter media.
Abstract:
A system for extracting liquid from a mass comprising a portable platform having an upper surface, a system mass input, a polymer feeding and blending system on the upper surface, a liquid extraction assembly on the upper surface, and piping having a first section between the system mass input and the polymer feeding and blending system, and a second section between the polymer feeding and blending system and the liquid extraction assembly. The system is configured to have mass inputted into the system mass input, transport the mass to the polymer feeding and blending system through the first section of the piping, inject polymer into the mass in the polymer feeding and blending system, and transport the mass from the polymer feeding and blending system to the liquid extraction assembly. Pressure from mass forced into the liquid extraction assembly forces liquid in the mass to exit the mass.
Abstract:
The invention provides a system for preparing an autologous solid-fibrin web suitable for regenerating tissue in a living organism. The system includes a sealed primary container containing a separation medium and a low-density high-viscosity liquid. The separation medium is capable of separating red blood cells from plasma when the container contains blood and is centrifuged, and the primary container has a first pressure. The system further includes a sealed secondary container containing a calcium-coagulation activator. The secondary container has a second pressure that is less than the first pressure. The system also includes a transfer device having a cannula with a first end and a second end. The first and second ends are adapted to puncture the sealed primary and secondary containers in order to provide fluid communication between the first and second containers.
