Abstract:
A filter device having a vent device for inhibiting formation of a vacuum in the filter device. The filter device includes a drum for receiving the liquid wherein the drum includes a drum headspace. The filter device also includes filter sets for filtering the liquid. The drum is rotated to enable cleaning of filter media. The filter device also includes a frame having spaced apart supports for supporting each of the filter sets. A fluid passageway extends between the supports, wherein the fluid passageway provides fluid communication between the tank headspace and a filter set to vent a filter set.
Abstract:
A solids removal press, method and feed system for a liquid and solids mixture, the press including:—a conveyor system (10, 7, 18) having at least one pair of opposing surfaces defining a pressing chamber (40), the pressing chamber having an inlet opening (19) at one end thereof and a discharge opening (25) at the other end thereof, the inlet opening enabling the pressing chamber to be in fluid communication with a feed system (2) for providing a continuous, pressurised, feed of the liquid and solids mixture to the pressing chamber (40);—at least part of the pressing chamber (40) being permeate to liquid, enabling collection of liquid from the pressing chamber; the conveyor system conveying the mixture through the pressing chamber towards the discharge opening; wherein the pressing chamber includes at least one pressing zone (5, 6); characterised in that the feed system (2) directs a flow of the mixture through the inlet opening (19) and generally along at least one surface of the conveyor system, such that agglomerating solids are urged towards the discharge opening (25).
Abstract:
In a papermaking process, filtering of white water containing fiber material is performed by feeding the white water to a filter on a surface of which a layer of auxiliary pulp has been formed, such that the white water is filtered through the layer of auxiliary pulp and fiber material in the white water remains in the layer of auxiliary pulp. The mixture of auxiliary pulp and fiber material is removed from the filter and is fed to a fractionating screen. The screen separates the mixture into a short-fibered pulp fraction that can be returned to the papermaking process, and a long-fibered pulp fraction that is returned to the filter where it is used as auxiliary pulp to form a layer on the filter surface.
Abstract:
A quick attach and release connection for securing a filter belt to a drive or conveyor chain. Spaced attachment clips are mounted along the parallel edges of the belt to receive correspondingly spaced attachment arms carried by the conveyor chains. The clips include cantilevered projections which are apertured to receive tangs or the like on the arms, the projections being deflectible to accommodate entry and removal of the arms in the clips for attachment and removal of the belt from the chain.
