Abstract:
Partial oxidation of hydrocarbons to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide is carried out by a fixed bed or a fluidized bed process which includes the steps of passing steam and/or carbon dioxide through a perovskite-type ceramic mixed conductor in an adsorption zone at an elevated temperature, thereby at least partially saturating the mixed conductor with oxygen and producing hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide, and subsequently contacting the hot, at least partially oxygen-saturated mixed conductor with a hydrocarbon in a partial oxidation reaction zone. During the partial oxidation reaction phase of the process, the sorbed oxygen reacts with the hydrocarbon, thereby producing hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

According to the invention, the compression means comprise at least one screw compressor so as to provide an apparatus for preparing pure carbon dioxide from a gaseous CO2 containing product which has a higher efficiency, which is of simpler, cheaper construction and which is easy to maintain.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for maintaining the humidity of an enclosed space within an acceptable operational range of relative humidity to minimize static electricity while passively removing at least a portion of organic contaminants from the enclosed space. The invention provides a simple, low cost solution to preventing damage to electronic disk drives using an adsorbent sheet material which requires less than about one-tenth the volume of adsorbent carriers which enclose the adsorbent material in a supporting envelope. The process employs a weak adsorbent such as high silica zeolite which effectively controls humidity at low operating temperatures and as the operating temperature increases is enabled to adsorb contaminants by reduced affinity for water.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for treating pollutants in a process effluent stream. The apparatus comprises an up-flow canister having a lower section plenum space, a section for a sorbent bed material, an upper section plenum space, an inlet for introducing a process effluent stream to the lower section plenum space, and an outlet for egress of the process effluent stream from the canister, the inlet, lower section plenum space, and sorbent bed material being arranged in a manner which provides for process effluent stream to flow into the sorbent bed against gravity, by a pressure differential.
Abstract:
A canister is connected to a fuel tank to adsorb fuel vapor vaporized in the fuel tank and includes a canister housing and a canister main body, which is received in the canister housing and communicates with the fuel tank at one end. The canister housing includes an atmospheric port and a filter chamber, and the filter chamber receives a filter and communicates between the other end of the canister main body and the atmospheric port, which in turn communicates with the atmosphere. The filter includes an active carbon part, an atmosphere-side unwoven fabric and a tank-side unwoven fabric. The active carbon part includes active carbon granules, which adsorb fuel vapor vaporized in the fuel tank. The atmosphere-side unwoven fabric and the tank-side unwoven fabric sandwich the active carbon part therebetween in a flow direction of air, which passes through the active carbon part.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for purifying the by-product gases that originate in a high-pressure melamine manufacturing installation in a urea wet scrubber. According to said method, CO2 is added to the by-product gases before or during their entry into said urea wet scrubber.
Abstract:
A fluid storage and dispensing apparatus including a fluid storage and dispensing vessel having a rectangular parallelepiped shape, and an integrated gas cabinet assembly including such fluid storage and dispensing apparatus and/or a point-of-use ventilation gas scrubber in the vented gas cabinet. By the use of physical adsorbent and chemical sorbent media, the gas cabinet can be enhanced in safety of operation, e.g., where the process gas supplied from the gas cabinet is of a toxic or otherwise hazardous character.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for controlling or removing mercury, mercury compounds and high molecular weight organics, if present, from a resource recovery exhaust stream by separately adding a carbonaceous char to the flue gas while it is still within the unit. The char can be produced in situ by adding a carbonaceous material and allowing it to thermally decompose.
Abstract:
A regeneration system includes at least two microwave sources for producing microwaves. There is also a microwave cavity in communication with the microwave sources to receive the microwaves. Additionally, there is a particulate filter disposed in the cavity which is heated by the microwaves in the cavity. Alternatively, there can be at least one microwave source with the microwave cavity having a plurality of ports through which microwaves from the microwave source enter the cavity. A method for regenerating a particulate filter comprising the steps of passing exhaust through the particulate filter. Then, there is the step of heating the particulate filter from a plurality of directions with microwaves.
Abstract:
