摘要: The present invention relates to a composition comprising one or more steviol glycosides which composition comprises nitrogen in an amount of no more than about 1000 ppm. The invention also relates to a method for preparing a steviol glycoside composition, which method comprises: providing a steviol glycoside composition; combining the steviol glycoside composition with water to form a steviol glycoside solution; and crystallizing a steviol glycoside composition from the solution. The invention also relates to a method for reducing the nitrogen content of a steviol glycoside composition, which method comprises: providing a steviol glycoside composition which comprises nitrogen; combining the steviol glycoside composition with water to form a steviol glycoside solution; and crystallizing a steviol glycoside composition from the solution, thereby to reduce the amount of nitrogen in the steviol glycoside composition.

摘要: Methods for lowering hypertension, elevated total cholesterol, elevated glucose and insulin, elevated IGF-1, elevated triglyceride levels, and/or elevated CRP levels, and elevated liver fat without negatively affecting or lowering the levels of these markers/factors in subjects with already low levels of these markers are provided. A method for elevating stem cells and regeneration and anti-inflammatory agents is also provided. Finally, a method for treating metabolic syndrome is also provided. A hypocaloric or calorie free diet or a fasting mimicking diet is administered for a first time period to the subject to reduce blood pressure or the levels of the above markers/risk factors for aging and age-related diseases.

摘要: Disclosed are methods of diagnosing and treating a subject with active or inactive eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). The methods may include the steps of detecting whether a level of eosinophil lineage-committed progenitor (EoP) is elevated in a blood sample obtained from a subject, diagnosing the subject with active EoE when an EoP level in the sample is elevated above a pre-determined cut-off value and diagnosing the subject with inactive EoE when the EoP level in the sample is below a pre-determined cut-off value; and treating the subject diagnosed with active EoE. Kits related to same are also disclosed.

摘要: Disclosed are a functionally reinforced desalted nutritional composition, a desalted extract and a cold-water-extracted salt substitute, which are derived from halophytes that grow in coastal regions under highly saline conditions and thus retain high salt concentrations, as well as the use of the desalted nutritional composition for combating obesity. More particularly, this invention relates to a functionally reinforced desalted nutritional composition, a desalted extract and a salt substitute cold-water-extracted from halophytes that inhabit extreme environments of high salinity under high salt stress, the halophytes being desalted through a cold water extraction process at a low temperature based on the difference in water solubility of salts with change in temperature to allow only sodium chloride to be selectively removed, and the composition thus having decreased sodium content as well as having increased content of useful minerals such as potassium, as well as nutrients and physiologically active substances, which are naturally contained in halophytes.
