Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling a vacuum insulated glass (VIG) window to be substituted for and/or replace a non-vacuum insulated glass window in an existing window assembly frame structure is disclosed. A width of a VIG window is substantially less than that of existing non-vacuum insulated glass (IG) windows (e.g., a double, triple or quad pane windows). A replacement stop is provided that compensates for the difference between the larger width of a non-vacuum insulated glass window and a VIG window which has a smaller width, thereby enabling the VIG window to be easily and cost effectively installed in existing window configurations originally intended for non-vacuum insulated glass windows. The replacement stop may be used in the manufacture of VIG window units and/or to replace existing and/or already installed non-vacuum insulated glass windows.

Abstract: A drain strainer assembly includes a housing having a circular cross-section, with an inlet port, an outlet port, and a plurality of first engagement tabs. The drain strainer assembly also includes a strainer member assembly having a circular cross-section. The strainer member assembly includes a strainer member with a solid front surface having a handle and a plurality of second engagement tabs interlocked with the first engagement tabs on the housing. The strainer member also includes cylindrical strainer sidewalls defining a circular opening at the back of the strainer member, and has an upper conduit aligned with the inlet port of the housing. The strainer member assembly also includes a circular strainer disk coupled to the strainer member with a fastener and covering the circular opening at the back of the strainer member.

Abstract: A method for repairing damaged valve stem assemblies includes enlarging a bore within a body of a valve stem to form an enlarged bore portion and creating a conical hole in an end of the valve stem body around the enlarged bore portion. Internal threads are created within the enlarged bore portion, and a valve stem repair extension is installed in the enlarged bore portion. The valve stem repair extension has a beveled surface that mates with the conical hole to form a hermetic seal between the valve stem body and the valve stem repair extension. The steps of enlarging the bore and creating the conical hole may both be performed using a countersinking drill bit having a beveled cutting portion.
