Abstract:
Techniques for proving digital photograph authorship using ECG biometrics are described. Electrodes are located on the exterior of a digital camera and are electrically coupled to an ECG circuit. When a photographer holds the camera with both hands, the electrodes detect electrical voltages from the photographer's hands and the ECG circuit produces a digital ECG signal. When the photographer uses the digital camera to capture a photograph, the camera's stenographic engine uses a stenographic key to embedded the ECG signal into the raw image file, producing a watermarked image. The camera's cryptographic engine uses a cryptographic key to encrypt the watermarked image to produce an encrypted image. If a dispute arises regarding authorship of the photograph, the stenographic and cryptographic engines convert the encrypted image into the raw image file and the photographer's ECG signals, which are compared to the ECG signals of the disputed author(s).
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for the production and labeling of objects in a manner suitable for the prevention and detection of counterfeiting. Thus, the system incorporates a variety of features that make unauthorized reproduction difficult. In addition, the present invention provides a system and method for providing a dynamically reconfigurable watermark, and the use of the watermark to encode a stochastically variable property of the carrier medium for self-authentication purposes.
Abstract:
A method for providing enhanced authenticity for a multimedia data item, the multimedia data item including captured multimedia data with associated metadata, wherein the method includes receiving the multimedia data item over a transmission path. The method further includes defining path information for the received multimedia data item based on the used transmission path; and storing the path information to the multimedia data item for providing enhanced authenticity of the association between the metadata and the captured multimedia data.
Abstract:
This invention safeguards the integrity of a machine-printed paper document by entangling a characteristic signature derived from the document's paper grain structure with the identities of the printing device and the person or organization which issued the document. This protection is achieved using a certification phase performed by an augmented document printer and an authentication phase performed by an augmented document scanner. In the certification phase, the grain structure of a specific area of the original paper is imaged and processed to generate a unique signature for the paper. This signature is doubly encrypted using the private keys of the augmented printer and the certifier. These encryption steps entangle the signature of the paper with its source information in a way that thwarts counterfeiting attacks which either copy the document or falsely attribute its source to a specific printer and/or certifier.
Abstract:
A negotiable instrument such as a check includes a unique microprint identifier that allows for authentication while preventing unauthorized reproduction and alternation. A printing system generates the identifier after receiving a customer order for printing a plurality of negotiable instruments, to allow inclusion of information that is specific to the customer order and/or the printing process. In various embodiments, the identifier is unique to each or each subset of the plurality of negotiable instruments and facilitates authentication of each of the negotiable instruments when needed.
Abstract:
The present application relates to a method for producing and authenticating unforgeable printable image comprising information color values and inference color values. The present application further provides for unforgeable printed images.
Abstract:
A system and method for verifying that a document is included in a document management system is disclosed. This system and method includes scanning of a scan track of a document, generating document data dependently upon the scanning, comparing the generated document data to stored document data, the stored document data generated dependently upon a prior scanning of the scan track of the document, and outputting an indication of the document being included in the document management system as determined by the comparing.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus accumulates one or more jobs sent from a terminal device connected via a network. The information processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit configured to acquire user information for identifying a user who logs in on the terminal device and first identification information for identifying the terminal device; a determination unit configured to determine whether the first identification information corresponds to second identification information for identifying the terminal device which sends a job including the user information, the second identification information being included in the job; and an execution unit configured to execute the job to perform a predetermined process in a case where the determination unit determines that the first identification information corresponds to the second identification information.
Abstract:
A system and method render see-saw scalable gloss effect image patterns on a recording medium by using to two colors to provide one region with a relatively smooth surface, while a second region has a relatively rougher surface. A third region is added composed of a color different than the first two, wherein the third region has a relatively smooth surface where it intersects with the first region and a relatively rougher surface where it intersects with the second region. As the rendered recording medium is tilted at different angles, the image patterns thereon toggle to create a see-saw effect.
Abstract:
Method, apparatus and non-transitory computer readable medium for embedding and extracting a watermark in a text document using digital watermarking processes is disclosed. When the text document is watermarked, the following steps are performed. The pages of the text document are transformed into corresponding images. Then, the margins on each of the images are detected and cropped to generate the cropped images. The cropped images are segmented into blocks among which some blocks are selected based on content of each block. The watermark is embedded in the selected blocks using a digital watermarking process. When the watermark from the watermarked text document is extracted, the watermark-embedding process is referred to determine the block information, for selecting each block of a watermarked text document, from where the watermark needs to be extracted.
