Abstract: Provided is an image reading apparatus, which is configured to correct a streak image in such a manner as to prevent a correction trace from becoming noticeable even when a streak changes in thickness. The image reading apparatus performs streak image correction for detecting a streak pixel that forms the streak image from image data obtained by reading an original being conveyed. A control unit of the image reading apparatus stores a value of a hysteresis width with a value of a detected streak width being set as an initial value. Each time the streak width is detected, the control unit increments a value of a hysteresis counter when the value of the detected streak width is equal to the value of the hysteresis width, and decrements the value of the hysteresis counter when the value of the detected streak width is different from that of the hysteresis width.

Abstract: An image reading device includes a housing, a carriage, and a lock mechanism. The housing includes an exterior member and a document sheet placement surface. The carriage is configured to move in the housing along a predetermined specific direction. The lock mechanism is configured to lock the carriage to a lock position. The lock mechanism includes a supported portion and a locking portion. The supported portion is supported by the housing and provided between the exterior member and the carriage disposed at the lock position. The locking portion moves between a first position and a second position in response to a magnetic force of a magnet disposed at a specific position on the exterior member so as to, at the first position, engage the supported portion with the carriage disposed at the lock position, and at the second position, release engagement between the supported portion and the carriage.

The scanner device SD is not mounted on the support base TR but fixed to the main body of the image reading apparatus. The spectrophotometer CI is mounted on and fixed to the support base TR, and spaced from the paper transfer route PP by a predetermined distance.

In response to a movement of the document cover to the opened position, the locking member moves to the first position and locks the image reading unit to the closed position. In response to a movement of the image reading unit to the opened position, the locking member moves to the second position and locks the document cover to the closed position.

Abstract: In an image reading device, a controller is configured to perform: calculating a ratio between first and second reference data as evaluation data; designating a target light receiving element from a plurality of light receiving elements one by one sequentially; calculating average evaluation data of the target light receiving element by averaging the evaluation data of a second number of light receiving elements located at positions apart every predetermined distance equal to a length of a first number of consecutively arranged light receiving elements; setting an evaluation range of the target light receiving element by adding/subtracting a predetermined value to/from the average evaluation data; determining whether the evaluation data falls within the evaluation range; in response to determining that the evaluation data is out of the evaluation range, revising the second reference data of the target light receiving element; and generating correction data using the second reference data after revision.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a document table, an image reading portion, a cover portion, a presser sheet, and a sheet winding portion. The presser sheet is provided on the cover portion, and contacts the document on the document table when the cover portion is positioned at the closing position. The sheet winding portion allows a first portion of the presser sheet to extend along the document table while holding a second portion of the presser sheet in a wound state. The sheet winding portion can feed the second portion when an external force is applied to the first portion. In the cover portion, a retreat space is formed so that the first portion of the presser sheet and a portion of the second portion fed from the sheet winding portion can retreat into the retreat space.

Abstract: An image scanning system of the present invention uses an image capturing unit moving unidirectionally along an optical axis direction, such that an object is positioned within a range of the depth of field of the image capturing unit. The optical axis direction is perpendicular to a plane, and a platform bearing the object and the plane form an included angle, such that multiple inclined surfaces of the object face the same end of a scanning direction, or such that one of the multiple inclined surfaces is parallel to the plane and other inclined surfaces face the same end of the scanning direction, wherein the scanning direction is parallel to the plane. Therefore, in the process of one-time scan, the scanning height of the image capturing unit only rises unidirectionally or descends unidirectionally and has no turning point, and thus, no backlash problem will happen.

Abstract: An image reading device includes an image processor that generates correction data to be used for shading correction and perform the shading correction using the correction data, and a memory that stores first black correction data to be used for the shading correction in a main scanning direction in a predetermined first position in a predetermined sub-scanning direction. The image processor generates third black data based on an image signal of a second reference plate extending in the sub-scanning direction in a predetermined second position in the main scanning direction, generates black correction data according to the sub-scanning direction based on the first black correction data and the third black data, and performs the shading correction using the black correction data so as to correct density unevenness in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction caused by an interference between image signals from a plurality of sensors.
