Abstract: The present invention is related to a scanning device for scanning documents, comprises a flat-bed scanning glass; a contact image sensor arranged above the flat-bed scanning glass separately to form a scanning path therebetween, a bottom surface of the contact image sensor being arranged with a protecting glass, a middle area of the protecting glass being configured as a scanning area, and a chamfer being arranged at the bottom surface of the protecting glass at a downstream position relative to the scanning area. Hence the dust of documents in this invention would be stacked in the chamfer during the scanning process temporarily and then be wiped away by the document itself, so as to assure the dust would not be stacked in the scanning area. The scanning device in this invention is capable to maintain the scanning quality without clearing the dust even after scanned a massive quantity of documents.

Abstract: A cleaning device includes a removal roller, a collecting roller, a blade, and a toner storage section. The removal roller and the collecting roller do not have relationship such that a rotation speed or a diameter of one of the removal roller and the collecting roller is an integral multiple of a rotation speed or a diameter of the other removal roller and collecting roller. A first outer circumferential region having a first surface roughness and extending in an axial direction of a second rotary shaft and a second outer circumferential region having a greater second surface roughness than the first surface roughness and extending in the axial direction of the second rotary shaft are provided on an outer circumferential surface of the collecting roller in a circumferential direction thereof. A width of the second outer circumferential region is smaller than a width of the first outer circumferential region.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a document feeder; a platen; an image reader configured to read the document, fed by the document feeder, through the platen; a memory; and a controller. The controller causes the image reader to read a reference plate at a predetermined reading position to generate read data, and detecting whether the read data has an abnormality; when the read data has the abnormality, stores a detection position; sets a reading position of the image reader in the sub-scanning direction to a set position spaced by a predetermined range or more from the detection position; when instruction to start reading is received, moves the image reader under standby at a standby position to arrange the image reader at the set position; and reads the document, fed by the document feeder, by the image reader.

Abstract: To prevent solidification of molten elastic material before an elastic member is formed, and improve dust-proof capabilities of a housing.Included are an opening 104a, dust-proofing glass 105, an elastic members 107 to close off a gap between the dust-proofing glass 105 and a cover member 104, an inlet 104d for pouring in molten elastic material when forming the elastic member 107, and a channel 104e through which the molten elastic material poured in from the inlet 104d flows to form the elastic member 107. When the molten elastic material is poured in from the inlet 104d and flows through the channel 104e to form the elastic members 107, the cross-sectional area of the elastic member 107 in the lateral direction of the openings 104a closer to the inlet 104d is larger than the cross-sectional area of the elastic member 107 in the lateral direction farther from the inlet 104d.

Abstract: A print controller initiates printing of a print job by at least one print head array of a printing system. In response to determining that the at least one print head array should be serviced, the print controller determines whether the servicing of the at least one print head array will interrupt the print job. In response to determining that the servicing will not interrupt the print job, the print controller causes movement of the at least one print head array from a given position to a servicing station of the printing system. In response to determining that the servicing will interrupt the print job, the print controller performs other tasks.
