Abstract:
A method for automatic transmission of status information from a first communications terminal set up for speech communication to a second communications terminal set up for text communication is provided. The speech communication between communications terminals is processed over a speech communications server and the text communication between communications terminals over a text communications server. The speech communications server and the text communications server exchange messages over at least one converter device. The status information will be transmitted from the first communications terminal over the speech communications server, the converter device, and the text communications server to the second communications terminal.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a communication system and, more particularly, a communication system using heterogeneous networks to support voice calls by combining private mobile networks, Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), and Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTNs) even when an application for voice talk has not been installed on the mobile terminal.
Abstract:
One embodiment of the present invention provides a collect call method and system thereof, more particularly, in order to charge the called party with a uniform toll for collect call, which is determined by only the type and location of called party terminal. In one embodiment, the collect call method, system and a counsel service providing method use a free VoIP network for part of the voice call link and a charge PSTN network for the rest of the voice call link. In one embodiment, if the first link corresponding to the collect call request is established, the collect call switch calls the called party terminal to establish the second link, and billing on the second link is initiated.
Abstract:
A method, device, and system for a reporting process. A home monitoring device may be equipped with a camera or some type of sensor. The home monitoring device may generate data based on input from the camera or sensor. A reporting device may receive the data from a home monitoring device. The reporting device may assess this information to determine if an event has occurred. The reporting device may send a message including the data based on the determination. The reporting device may establish a multiway communication between the home monitoring device, the user interface, and the reporting device.
Abstract:
A system and method is disclosed for providing a conference call and enhanced conference call controls for traditional, for example circuit switched-only, and advanced, for example packet switched and dual circuit and packet switched, communication devices. The system includes components for receiving, transcoding, and distributing communication protocols from any suitable public, commercial, or otherwise known communication protocol source or architecture. In addition, the system includes components for dynamically transferring host control functions from one conference call participant while maintaining a conference call communication bridge, as well as components for maintaining a conference call communication bridge should a conference call host device become inadvertently disconnected.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for performing non-voice emergency services (NOVES) between a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a public safety answering point (PSAP) is disclosed. A NOVES session may be initiated by sending a NOVES initiation request message that includes information relating to the NOVES capabilities of the WTRU, and information relating to an emergency situation. The information relating to the NOVES capabilities of the WTRU may include an indication of whether the WTRU supports a fake power-off mode, or whether the WTRU supports PSAP control. Other methods are disclosed that include a method for a PSAP combining a multiple NOVES sessions, and a method for handing over a NOVES session having multiple media streams.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing telephone services to a secure facility from an external, centralized call platform. An embodiment of the system includes a call processing center that is external to the facility and includes a plurality of computer clusters, and is configured to route communications to and from a router located at the secure facility. Having a majority of the system located outside the facility reduces equipment requirements at each individual facility, improves security and uptime, and provides more efficient management and expansion of the call platform.
Abstract:
A Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) interface system for enabling communications between a plain old telephone service (POTS) device and a packet data network is disclosed. The VoIP interface system includes a POTS interface configured to communicate POTS voice telephone communications and a powered packet-based interface configured to communicate packet-based voice telephone communications with a host computer system that also provides power. The VoIP interface system also includes a memory system that includes a set of instructions, that direct the host system to prompt the user for a selection from a plurality of VoIP service providers, receive a selection identifying one of the plurality of VoIP service providers, identify profile information associated with the user and the selected one of the VoIP service providers, and populate one or more fields of a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) module based on the profile information when executed.
Abstract:
Techniques for a mixed audio conference are described. An apparatus may comprise an audio video multipoint control unit to mix call information from multiple call connections established over a packet-switched network for a conference call. The apparatus may comprise a telephony gateway communicatively coupled to the audio video multipoint control unit. The telephony gateway may establish a bridge connection with a conference bridge servicing a call connection over a circuit-switched network, the telephony gateway to translate call information from the call connection for use by the audio video multipoint control unit. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
System, methods, nodes, and instruction set for routing a session invitation from a first network (101) to a second network (112) are described. The first network (101) and the second network (112) are interconnected via at least two points of interconnect (1 14, 120). A first control node (124) receives a session invitation to a first user equipment (106), both are part of the first network (101). The first control node (124) determines whether a breakout condition for routing of the session invitation to the second network (112) is fulfilled. If so, a second control node (128) of the first network (101) selects a point of interconnect (114, 120) to the second network (112), considering a capability information characterizing the first control node (124). Therefore the session invitation may be routed in an efficient way from the first network (101) to the second network (112).
