Abstract: A wireless network device in a wide area network is disclosed. A radio of the network device receives a plurality of communication signals. The device detects a signal to noise ratio value and/or a noise floor value and determines, for each frequency channel, when one of the detected signal to noise ratio value is less than a signal to noise ratio threshold value for a period of time and/or the detected noise floor value is greater than a noise floor threshold value for the period of time. The device transmits a jamming warning signal when one of the detected signal to noise ratio value for each of the channels is determined to be greater than the signal to noise ratio threshold value for the period of time and/or the detected noise floor value for each channel is greater than the noise floor threshold value for the period of time.

Abstract: Tools and methods for optimizing the selection and placement of wireless radio devices in a wireless network within a geographic region using a remote database that includes a geographic mapping of existing wireless devices within the network and/or adjacent networks, device characteristics for the wireless devices within the network and/or adjacent networks, and radio frequency spectral information across times for a plurality of regions (e.g., corresponding to locations of existing wireless devices). A tool may include a local user interface, a remote database, and a processor that communicates with the user interface and remote database. The methods and tools described herein may receive user input indicating a desired location and/or operational characteristics of new wireless radio device and may determine and suggest an optimal type, location and/or operational parameters for the additional device, or may suggest other modifications to the current network to optimize the network including the new device.

Abstract: A wireless communication system having base stations, remotely located terminal units and a base station controller. The base stations and the remotely located terminal units communicate data over operational wireless communication links between them. The base stations include respective in-channel detectors and out-of-channel detectors for detecting radar or other extraneous received signals. The in-channel detectors analyse signals over the operational communication links. The out-of-channel detectors include respective out-of-channel receiver elements that monitor possibly available channels alternative to the respective operational communication link channels. The base station controller registers whether channels are available or not for communication links, and allocates to the base stations respective target channel parameters including frequencies available for operational and alternative communication links. The base stations store the respective target channel parameters for available operational and alternative communication links.

Abstract: A portable countermeasure device is provided comprising one or more directional antenna, one or more disruption components and at least one activator. The portable countermeasure device further comprises a body having a dual-grip configuration, with the directional antenna are affixed to a front portion of the body. The one or more disruption components may be internally mounted within the device body. The dual-grip configuration allows an operator to use his body to steady and support the device while maintaining the antenna on target. The second grip is positioned adjacent the first grip, with the first grip angled toward the rear of the device and the second grip angled toward the front of the device. The portable countermeasure device is aimed at a specific drone, the activator is engaged, and disruptive signals are directed toward the drone, disrupting the control, navigation, and other signals to and from the drone.

Abstract: Dynamic frequency selection (DFS) is often a requirement for a wireless local area network (WLAN) apparatus to prevent the apparatus from interfering with other systems that have a priority to a radio frequency (RF) channel. When DFS is executed, the WLAN apparatus ceases WLAN operations on the channel and searches for an open channel to resume WLAN operations. Often a WLAN apparatus misinterprets signals from another system as operating on the channel when actually the received signals are signals leaked into the channel from a system transmitting on a different channel. Presented herein are methods and apparatuses for preventing unnecessary DFS operations resulting from misinterpreted signals through the use of a signal to noise ratio determined from a pulse spectral density of the received signal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for a wireless communication device capable of scanning for radar signals while detecting and/or receiving a wireless communication signal. The wireless communication device may include a plurality of local oscillator synthesizers to allow distinct frequency bands to be used for wireless communication signals and radar detection. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may include a radar detection physical layer (PHY) circuit to detect the presence of radar signals within a received RF signal. The radar detection PHY may have limited functionality suitable primarily for radar signal analysis and not suitable for processing (decoding) communication signals.

Abstract: Systems and methods can support detecting and identifying threats associated with wireless devices. A radio receiver can collect radio frequency signals from one or more sensor antennas positioned within an electromagnetic environment. The receiver can generate data samples representing at least a portion of the radio frequency signals. Feature vectors can be generated comprising at least a portion of the data samples and attribute information. The attribute information can describe one or more features of a communicated signal within the radio frequency signals. Content of the feature vectors may be compared against signatures of known signals to identify radio frequency signals associated with a wireless attack. Content of the feature vectors may be compared against templates of known attacks to classify the identified wireless attacks. Threat information associated with the wireless attacks may be presented to one or more operator interfaces.

Abstract: This invention generally relates to interference mitigation, and more specifically to interference mitigation in wireless communications networks. The proposed solution takes advantage of the clear channel assessment (CCA) function used by WLAN networks. Hence, by jamming the interfering WLAN channel during a predetermined time period, the interfering WLAN network is forced to withhold transmissions on the WLAN interfering channel during a backoff period of time. The solution of the subject application makes use of this backoff period to enable a WPAN network to transmit critical information such as, but not limited to, a request for changing the current working frequency.
