摘要: In a system and method for operating a system having a rail, a stationary unit, rail-guided mobile parts, and a slotted hollow waveguide, either a first one of the mobile parts or the stationary unit functions as a transmitter, and a second one of the mobile parts functions as a receiver. The transmitter is configured for the simultaneous transmission of an electromagnetic signal and an acoustic signal, e.g., at a first instant. The receiver, which is set apart from the transmitter, is configured to detect the arrival of the electromagnetic signal at a second instant and to detect the arrival of the acoustic signal at a third instant. The second mobile part has an evaluation unit which is configured to determine the distance between the transmitter and the receiver based on the acquired second and third instants.

摘要: A sensor device includes an audio sensor and a wireless communication module. The audio sensor is configured to be mounted on a railroad vehicle. The audio sensor is configured to (i) monitor sounds emanating from one or more wheels of the railroad vehicle as the railroad vehicle moves along a track and (ii) generate sound data associated with the monitored sounds emanating from the one or more wheels. The wireless communication module is configured to transmit a broken wheel signal responsive to a determination that a portion of the generated sound data is indicative that a first one of the one or more wheels is damaged or broken.

摘要: A system for dynamically adjusting a configuration of an intra-train communication network includes an electronic device and a computer-readable storage medium. The computer-readable storage medium has one or more programming instructions that, when executed, cause the electronic device to receive one or more parameters values associated with a train consist, determine whether a potentially adverse condition that would affect intra-train communication for the train consist is anticipated based on at least a portion of the received parameters, in response to determining that the potentially adverse condition is anticipated, identify one or more updated network parameter settings that will assist in maintaining intra-train communication of the train consist during an occurrence of the potentially adverse condition by executing a machine learning model, and implement the identified one or more updated network parameter settings.

摘要: A train control system includes independent virtual in-train forces modeling engines onboard each of a plurality of locomotives in a train and a data acquisition hub configured to acquire signals from sensors, wherein the signals are indicative of real-time force and displacement measurement data from each of draft gears and couplers interconnecting each locomotive with another locomotive or with non-powered rail cars, acquire synchronized messages transmitted from offboard the train or from other locomotives of the train over a range of frequencies used by voice radios on the train for communicating between the locomotives, wherein the synchronized messages include real-time information on starting the train, stopping the train, and the next two speed limits for the train, and acquire heuristic data indicating the locomotive's motion during a predetermined period of time. An energy management system adjusts throttle requests, dynamic braking requests, and pneumatic braking requests for the locomotives based at least in part on a respective one of the virtual in-train forces models.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for worker protection system with ultra-wideband (UWB) based anchors. One or more wayside units placed on or near a track may be configured to form a work zone network, based on ultra-wideband (UWB) communications, corresponding to a work zone in an area surrounding or in proximity to the one or more wayside units. When the work zone network is formed, at least one wayside unit of the one or more wayside units may be configured to obtain ranging information to a train traversing the track, based on communications of UWB signals with at least one train-mounted unit deployed on the train, and the one or more wayside units are configured to generate, based on the ranging information, notifications relating to the train and/or the work zone.

摘要: A system for exclusive track resource sharing is provided. Some embodiments provide an exclusive track resource sharing system including onboard control units and a resource manager. Onboard control unit is provided in each of trains and is configured to communicate with another onboard control unit in another train. The resource manager is configured to record ownership status information of track resources of the plurality of trains, to provide the ownership status information of the track resources to the onboard control unit, and to generate and deliver a resource entitlement or resource authority to the onboard control unit. The resource authority is configured to be owned by a single onboard control unit. The onboard control unit possessing the resource authority is configured to seize or release the track resources corresponding to the resource authority and to control the track resources corresponding to the resource authority.
