Abstract: A method of operating a tube transport system having a tube assembly with an outer tube, one or more inner tubes, and a support structure, and a vehicle having an outer wall surface defining an annular gap between the outer wall surface of the vehicle and the inner wall of the tube assembly. The method includes moving the vehicle along a path toward a first end at a velocity above a choking limit of a flow of gas particles in the annular gap, while releasing gas particles from an inner space of the tube assembly in front of the vehicle, and reversing the direction of motion and moving the vehicle along the path toward a second end at a velocity above the choking limit of the flow of the gas particles in the annular gap while releasing gas particles from the inner space of the tube assembly in front of the vehicle.

Abstract: A door system for a vacuum train includes at least one vehicle with at least one vehicle door and a track including at least one evacuated pipe that guides and propels elements within the pipe. The track includes at least one station outside of the pipe with at least one station door arranged within the wall of the pipe to selectively close and open the station towards the pipe. The vehicle door and the station door being arranged in a corresponding position when the vehicle is at rest, so that persons can leave or enter the vehicle when the vehicle door and the station doors are open at the rest position. The door system comprises at least one inflatable ring shaped seal (22) which surrounds both doors when the doors are in their corresponding position and which seals in its inflated position both doors against the vacuum within the pipes.

Abstract: There is provided a vacuum volume reduction system having a volume reduction assembly of a fluid fill assembly coupled to a station wall of a vacuum tube vehicle station, to reduce a volume, under vacuum, in the vacuum tube vehicle station, when a vacuum transport tube vehicle is positioned in the volume at the vacuum tube vehicle station. The fluid fill assembly includes one or more containers, each containing a fluid, and fluid transport member(s), to transport the fluid from the container(s) to one or more enclosed volume portions formed between an exterior of the vacuum transport tube vehicle and an interior of the station wall. The fluid fill assembly further includes one or more fluid pump assemblies attached to the fluid transport member(s), and a control and power system. The vacuum volume reduction system further includes recessed area(s), a vent-to-vacuum assembly coupled to the recessed area(s), and seal elements.
