    摘要: A main-remote radio base station system includes plural remote radio units. Fiber costs are significantly reduced using a single optical fiber that communicates information between the main unit and the remote units connected in a series configuration. Information from the main unit is sent over a first fiber path to the remote units so that the same information is transmitted over the radio interface by the remote units at substantially the same time. The main unit receives the same information from each of the remote units over a second fiber path at substantially the same time. Delay associated with each remote unit is compensated for by advancing a time when information is sent to each remote unit. A data distribution approach over a single fiber avoids the expense of separate fiber couplings between the main unit and each RRU. That approach also avoids the expense of WDM technology including lasers, filters, and OADMs as well as the logistical overhead needed to keep track of different wavelength dependent devices.

N radio access units each convert the optical signal received from the optical fiber into an RF signal and transmits it from an antenna, and each radio access unit converts an RF signal received by the antenna into an optical signal and sends it over an optical fiber to the divider/combiner unit. The divider/combiner unit converts the received optical signal into RF signals and outputs them. This system is operated as plurality of communication systems in common to them in correspondence to a plurality of input/output terminals of the divider/combiner unit.

    摘要: A distributed multi-drop base station/repeating unit using an extension of analog optical transmission in a mobile communication system. The base station unit comprises a main unit for performing functions of a mobile communication base station, and a plurality of remote units cascaded to the main unit on a sector basis. Each of the remote units is adapted to, in a forward mode, receive an analog optical signal, perform a photoelectric conversion operation for the received analog optical signal, split the resulting electrical RF signal into electrical RF signals of two paths, amplify the electrical RF signal of one of the two paths, perform an electrophotic conversion operation for the amplified electrical RF signal, transmit the resulting optical signal, amplify the electrical RF signal of the other path and transmit the amplified electrical RF signal to an associated terminal, and to, in a backward mode, receive an analog optical signal, perform the photoelectric conversion operation for the received analog optical signal, amplify the resulting electrical RF signal, couple the amplified electrical RF signal with its own electrical RF signal, perform the electrophotic conversion operation for the coupled result and transmit the resulting optical signal.

    摘要: The present invention describes a method for transmitting reverse analog signals within a specific portion of a reverse band in an HFC communications system. Subscriber equipment (305) receives input defining the specific portion of the band for transmitting reverse analog signals. An optical transmitter (315) then converts the received reverse signals to digital reverse signals and transmits the digital reverse signals at a specified clock rate. Due to shifting of the digital reverse signals within the reverse bandwidth, shifting of the received digital signals reflect the specific bandwidth within which the reverse signals were originally transmitted. An optical receiver (320) then receives the shifted digital reverse signals and converts them back to the original reverse analog signals, whereby transmitting reverse analog signals that are confined to a specific bandwidth and sub-sampling the specific bandwidth within the reverse bandwidth allows for a substantial decrease in bit rate throughout the HFC communications system allowing a transition network between an HFC network and a digital network.
