Abstract: Methods and apparatus for electric vehicle charger with load shedding. One embodiment provides a method of load shedding including receiving, at an electronic processor of an EV charger, an indication of an amount of current flowing through a main switchboard connected to the EV charger and determining, with the electronic processor, whether the amount of current exceeds a predetermined threshold. The method also includes reducing, using the electronic processor, a charge rating of the EV charger when the amount of current exceeds the predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A power station system and a server thereof. The server includes a power-generation-amount calculator, a trade amount calculator, a balance calculator, and an information display controller. The power-generation-amount calculator proportionally distributes power generation amount information in accordance with power generation share number information, and adds a distribution value to owned power amount information of each member. The trade amount calculator subtracts a power sales amount from the owned power amount information. The balance calculator adds a power sales profit based on a change in the owned power amount information to balance information. The information display controller transmits the owned power amount information of the member and the balance information thereof to a computer terminal.

Abstract: A computer system at a substation of an electrical grid examines on-grid communication channels and for very channel, the system compares and correlates a GLA signal provided by a downstream transmitter on that channel to a reference GLA signal. The channel that provided the signal with the best correlation is mostly likely the channel with the transmitter. Thus, the feeder and phase of the signal can be determined from the correlation of signals.

Abstract: An embedded system may distribute, e.g. at the point of coupling to a main power grid, information corresponding to one or more operational parameters (e.g. phase angle, frequency, amplitude, etc.) of a power delivery device to other power delivery devices, using a deterministic communication link. Updates of some or all of the information may be transmitted at future or past points in time, for example at defined time intervals. Time synchronization methods, e.g. a locked instantaneous interpolation mechanism may be used to create a coordinated time, shared among all power delivery devices. Various operating parameter mismatches, e.g. a phase mismatch between power delivery devices delivering power to the power grid, may thereby be reduced to less than a specified, negligible value. This creates tight time synchronization between the power delivery devices and allows them to interoperate in a manner that stabilizes rather than destabilizes the power grid.

Abstract: An incentive-based demand response (DR) method and system are provided from the view of a grid operator (GO) to enable system-level dispatch of DR resources. The method spans three hierarchical levels of a GO, multiple service providers (SPs), and corresponding customers. The GO first posts an incentive to SPs, who will then invoke sub-programs with enrolled customers to negotiate quantities of demand reduction via providing SP incentives. In view of the hierarchical decision-making structure, a two-loop Stackelberg game is proposed to capture interactions between different actors. The existence of a unique Stackelberg equilibrium that provides optimal system solutions is demonstrated. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective in helping compensate system resource deficiency at minimum cost.
