    Abstract: Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device that includes a display and is configured to enable a low power display refresh during a semi-active workload. The electronic device can include a display engine and a display panel and a frame is used by the display panel to generate an image on a display backplane. The display panel includes the display backplane, a plurality of row drivers, a plurality of column drivers, and a timing controller. The timing controller can receive a partial update to a frame being displayed as an image on the display backplane and update the image displayed on the display backplane by activating row drivers and a subset of the plurality of available column drivers, wherein the subset is based on the update.

    Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods may provide for technology that identifies a parameter of an internal display, populates a lookup table with the parameter and alternative configuration data if the parameter is related to power consumption, detects a trigger condition during operation of the computing system, and reconfigures the internal display from a first state to a second state in response to the trigger condition based on the lookup table and the alternative configuration data, wherein the internal display and/or a system on chip (SoC) associated with the internal display consumes a reduced amount of power in the second state relative to the first state.

    Abstract: A display device capable of maximizing power consumption reduction of a digital logic circuit during low-speed operation and a method for operating the same are disclosed. The display device includes a display panel; and a plurality of source drivers configured to convert image data into data voltage and provide the data voltage to the display panel, wherein each of the plurality of source drivers includes a reception circuit configured to reconstruct at least one of the image data, control data, and a clock from a data packet received from a timing controller, wherein in a variable refresh rate mode operation, the display device is configured to activate the reception circuit during a refresh frame and to deactivate the reception circuit during a skip frame.

    Abstract: A display apparatus capable of performing authentication in a short time is provided. The display apparatus includes a first display portion where first pixels are arranged in a matrix, a second display portion where second pixels are arranged in a matrix, first and second row driver circuits, and a control circuit. Each of the first and the second pixels includes a light-receiving element. The first and the second pixels each have a function of acquiring imaging data by using the light-receiving element. The first and the second row driver circuits each have a function of selecting the first and the second pixels which read out the imaging data. The control circuit has a function of sequentially driving the first and the second row driver circuits in a first mode, and has a function of driving one of the first and the second row driver circuits on the basis of the imaging data in the second mode. Each of the scan rates of the first and the second row driver circuits in the first mode is higher than the scan rate of the first or the second row driver circuit in the second mode.
