摘要: There are provided an optical fiber display system and an optical fiber changeover method each enabling an efficient optical fiber changeover work. The optical fiber display system according to the present invention includes a plurality of core wire identification terminals 101. Each of the core wire identification terminals 101 includes: bent part formation units 11 configured to form a bent part at an optional position of an optical fiber 50 and to leak optical signals propagating through the optical fiber 50 from the bent part; analysis units 12 configured to acquire identification numbers of communication apparatuses (51 and 52) included in the leaked optical signals, the communication apparatuses (51 and 52) being connected to respective ends of the optical fiber 50; a communication unit 13 configured to inquire of a database 201 storing relationship between the optical fiber and the communication apparatuses about the acquired identification numbers of the communication apparatuses, and to receive an identification number of the optical fiber 50 corresponding to the acquired identification numbers of the communication apparatuses, from the database 201; and a display unit 14 configured to display the acquired identification numbers of the communication.

摘要: A method for forming a side-pumped optical fiber combiner includes ablating a cladding of a signal fiber to form an angled notch in the cladding. The signal fiber includes a core and the cladding surrounding the core. The method further includes inserting a cladding-free end of a pump fiber into the angled notch. The pump fiber includes a core and a cladding, the cladding-free end including the core of the pump fiber and free from the cladding of the pump fiber. The method further includes fusing the cladding-free end to the signal fiber.

摘要: A bridge fiber includes a core layer and an outer layer which has an index of refraction higher than that of the core layer and covers the outer peripheral surface of the core layer. The outer layer is surrounded by a substance such as the atmosphere having an index of refraction lower than an index of refraction n2 of the outer layer. An area AR1 of the outer layer at one end face of the bridge fiber is an area that is to be optically coupled to an end face of a core of each of a plurality of pumping light inputting optical fibers, while an area AR2 of the core layer at another end face of the bridge fiber is an area that is to be optically coupled to an end face of a core of an amplification optical fiber.

摘要: An integrated circuit includes optical waveguides defined in a semiconductor layer, and uses removable optical taps to allow for in-process characterization and trimming. These optical waveguides may be trimmed during fabrication of the integrated circuit to improve performance. Note that the trimming may modify indexes of refraction of portions of the optical waveguides or may involve a more invasive process. Moreover, the trimming may exclude or may not involve the use of a polymer and/or the carrier wavelengths at a given temperature may be stable as a function of time. The trimming process may use removable optical taps for external feedback to determine the amount of change required. These optical taps may be formed either in the semiconductor layer or the cladding layer, and they may be disabled with negligible impact to device performance via alterations to the cladding layer after the completion of trimming.

摘要: Tapered waveguides made of high-index material attached to a tapered optical fiber are provided, enabling access to the optical modes of large, high-index resonators. In some embodiments, an optical fiber having a central axis, a tapered portion, and an untapered portion is provided. The tapered portion is configured to expose an evanescent field. An elongated waveguide is optically coupled to the optical fiber along the tapered portion and parallel to the central axis of the optical fiber. The elongated waveguide has a substantially triangular cross section perpendicular to the central axis of the optical fiber.

摘要: A cladding stripper includes a plurality of transversal notches or grooves in the outer surface of an exposed inner cladding of a double clad optical fiber. Position and orientation of the notches can be selected to even out cladding light release along the cladding light stripper, enabling more even temperature distributions due to released cladding light. The notches on the optical fiber can be made with a laser ablation system.

摘要: A method is disclosed to provide improved fiber inline optical power monitoring that eliminates the need for micro-bending the fiber or for fabricating micro-reflector on the fiber. A subset of light is tapped through an offset at a fusion-spliced upstream and downstream optic fiber, and is guided out of the downstream fiber by a light guide to a reflector and photo-sensing measurement. The disclosed inline fiber monitoring is thus cost effective, wavelength independence, reliable, stable, and also causes less light transmission loss.
