    摘要: An optical apparatus includes one or more pump sources situated to provide laser pump light, and a gain fiber optically coupled to the one or more pump sources, the gain fiber including an actively doped core situated to produce an output beam, an inner cladding and outer cladding surrounding the doped core and situated to propagate pump light, and a polymer cladding surrounding the outer cladding and situated to guide a selected portion of the pump light coupled into the inner and outer claddings of the gain fiber. Methods of pumping a fiber sources include generating pump light from one or more pump sources, coupling the pump light into a glass inner cladding and a glass outer cladding of a gain fiber of the fiber source such that a portion of the pump light is guided by a polymer cladding surrounding the glass outer cladding, and generating a single-mode output beam from the gain fiber.

Furthermore, at room temperature and with no other external stresses on the device, the immobilized portion of the optical fibre (101) is maintained in a compressive state by the tubular structure, the compressive state being such that the relative deformation of the optical fibre is negative or zero in its portion immobilized in the tubular structure, the maximum value of the relative deformation of the immobilized portion of the optical fibre being higher in absolute value than 0.3%.

    摘要: A technique is described for eliminating feedback light in a high-power optical device. An optical device is provided that generates, along an optical pathway, an output light at a desired signal wavelength, wherein the generation of the output light at the signal wavelength results in the generation of a feedback light at an undesired feedback wavelength. A port is provided at a selected location along the optical fiber pathway. The port is terminated with a length of a filter fiber, wherein the filter fiber has loss characteristics at the feedback wavelength that result in the elimination of feedback light from the optical fiber pathway through the port.
