    摘要: A sorbent tube holder (100) for securing a sorbent tube (10) in position in a fluid-flow system, the sorbent tube holder (100) comprising: an mounting element (126) having first and second opposed ends (126a, 126b) which define a tube mounting axis (A-A); at least one fastener (128) in communication with the mounting element (126) for providing a releasable tube retaining force; at least one sorbent tube (10) engaged with the mounting element (126); and a holder frame (130) to which the mounting element (126) is attached to prevent or limit movement of the mounting element (126) perpendicular to the tube mounting axis. A method of preventing or limiting unintentional damage to a sorbent tube, and a portable tube holder are also provided.

    摘要: Microreactors, methods of fabricating, and using such microreactors comprises a substrate having an outer periphery and composing two monolithic sections, each of said monolithic sections comprising two opposed main surfaces and one or more edges extending between the main opposed surfaces. One of the main surfaces from each of the monolithic sections are joined together at a substantially planar junction. The microreactor further comprises at least one microcapillary flow passage defined by surfaces within said substrate and having first and second ends. One or more inlets connect the outer periphery of said substrate with the first end of said microcapillary flow passage. One or more outlets connect the outer periphery of said substrate with the second end of said microcapillary flow passage, which may narrowingly taper. The substrate can be made from high purity fused silica. A metallic reagent and/or catalyst can be incorporated in the micro capillary passage.

    摘要: A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising a High Pressure Liquid Chromatography system (10) which is interfaced to a combustion chamber (16) and isotope ratio mass analyser (19) by means of an Electrospray Ionisation ion source (11) and a Field Asymmetric Ion Mobility Spectrometry device (13). Analyte and solvent molecules are ionised by the ion source (11). Desired analyte ions are substantially onwardly transmitted by the Field Asymmetric Ion Mobility Spectrometry device (13) to the combustion chamber (16) whereas undesired solvent ions are substantially attenuated by the Field Asymmetric Ion Mobility Spectrometry device (13).

    摘要: Method for integrating isotope dilution analysis with chromatography. One embodiment of the invention includes a liquid chromatographic column, a radiochemical detector, an eluent that contains an additive at saturation and a radiochemically labeled derivative of the analyte to be determined. When the analyte, which is not radioactive, is injected, its movement through the column occurs more slowly than the movement of the radioactive derivative situated on the column outside the analyte band. As a result, radioactivity enters the analyte band and isotope dilution occurs. The distribution of radioactivity within the band is used to determine the amount of analyte injected.
