    摘要: A detector has a sensor responsive to a first wavelength, a sensor responsive to a second wavelength, and a sensor for collecting reference readings. A gas sample is analysed to obtain readings corresponding to the first wavelength, the second wavelength and a reference. A first absorption figure is calculated using the first reading and the reference reading, and a second absorption figure using the second reading and the reference reading. A lineariser function is applied to the first and second absorption figures to calculate first and second concentration figures. The sensor for each wavelength is calibrated for detecting the first gas such that the data collected at each wavelength gives the same reading when only the first gas is present. The ratio of the first concentration figure to the second concentration figure is used to identify whether only the first gas is present.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus enable monitoring a hydrocarbon well for water within a flow stream of the well. A water detector includes a light source for emitting into a flow stream infrared light that includes a water absorbent wavelength band. A detector detects attenuation of the water absorbent wavelength band upon the infrared radiation passing through at least a portion of the flow stream. The water detector outputs a presence of water and/or a phase fraction or quantification of water as determined based on the attenuation. Detecting attenuation of a substantially transmissive wavelength band with respect to water simultaneously with detection of the attenuation of the water absorbent wavelength band can enable correction for non-wavelength dependent attenuation.

    摘要: The invention relates to a device for inspecting eggs for the presence of blood. The device comprises a light source in order to pass light at a first wavelength which is not selectively absorbed by blood and light at a second wavelength which is selectively absorbed by blood through an egg to be inspected. Furthermore, the device comprises detection means for converting the light transmission through the egg to be inspected for each of the two wavelengths into corresponding signals, each of the said signals being representative of the light transmission at the relevant wavelength. The device also comprises signal-processing means which are transmission associated with the first wavelength and the light transmission associated with the second wavelength based on the signals emanating from the detection means and to emit a decision signal which is representative of the decision whether or not an egg contains blood on the basis of this ratio. According to the invention, the light source comprises one or more identical LED's (Light Emitting Diode) for generating light which passes through the egg. In use the one or more LED's emit light within a certain narrow spectrum, which spectrum comprises both the first and the second wavelength.

    摘要: A spectroscopic sensor for measuring flat sheet product is disclosed. The disclosed sensor uses a combination of spectrometers and single-channel detectors and filters together with a broadband source of illumination to optimally measure multiple properties of a flat sheet product. A spectrometer is used to measure over a spectral range where an easily configurable set of wavelength channels is needed and where the signal-to-noise ratios and spectral resolutions of the channels are consistent with the spectral range and number of pixels of the spectrometer; while one or more single channel detector and filter combinations are used to measure, with high signal-to-noise ratio, at specific wavelengths within or outside the spectral range of the spectrometer(s). Therefore, the single channel detectors can be used to complement the information provided by a spectrometer or to extend the working range of a spectrometer by providing single wavelength measurements anywhere in the visible, near-IR or mid-IR spectral regions.

    摘要: A rugged, miniature, spectroscopic gas analyzer apparatus for rapid, non-invasive, multi-component breath monitoring and analysis and subsequent determination of Q or other medical diagnostic applications. The system is comprised of one or more IR emitters focussed by optical elements through a low volume sample cell receiving a sample input of a patient's breath for analysis. The patient either at rest or during exercise, inhales C2H2—SF6 mixtures (balance of oxygen and nitrogen) which is subsequently monitored upon exhalation for CO2, H2O, C2H2, and SF6 which can be employed to determine Q directly and accurately. Measurements are performed in real-time or via post-processing of stored original data. Due to its small size, ruggedness, and low power consumption, the monitor can conveniently be employed in the field or data can also be retrieved remotely using telemetry. The miniature analyzer operates on the principle of infrared absorption spectroscopy and allows very precise concentration measurements of the analytes of interest, without any bias or interference from other matrix components.
