摘要: Exhaust outlets (e.g., in a gas turbine engine) are generally made from sections of thin-walled materials (e.g., sheet metal) that are joined by flanges. Due to the length of the exhaust outlet and differing thermal expansion coefficients exhibited by the flanges and the thin-walled materials, these joints are subjected to high mechanical, as well as thermal, stresses. A long-arm flange is disclosed that decouples the mechanical stress from the thermal stress in the flange and distributes the stress, to thereby reduce the stress at the flange interface. Additionally, the long-arm flange can be easily adapted to the specific geometry of any exhaust outlet.

摘要: A component for a gas turbine engine includes at least one airfoil that has a radially inner end and a radially outer end. A platform has a gas path side that supports the radially outer end of the at least one airfoil and a non-gas path side. A hook is supported by the platform and has an anti-rotation surface that faces in a circumferential direction. A conical surface is spaced axially forward of a base portion of the hook. A triangular base surface intersects the anti-rotation surface and is spaced radially outward from the conical surface.

摘要: An oil-lubricated, tapered-land thrust bearing assembly (60) for automotive turbochargers (10) including a thrust bearing (30). The thrust bearing (30) includes an assembly of a base (62) with at least one insert (64 or 66), which is designed to control the oil film as a purposefully compliant structure based on applied force to optimize performance at low and high power operation. The ramp angle is relatively large at a low load and decreases to a smaller ramp angle at higher loads. On one side of the turbocharger (10), the thrust bearing assembly (60) may operate with a flinger sleeve (34) and a thrust washer (24) within a complementary bearing housing cover (32).

摘要: A method for treating a component and a treated component are provided. The method includes the steps of machining a tapered slot in the component. The tapered slot is measured to determine dimensions. An insert is formed to have a corresponding geometry to the tapered slot with a braze gap between an outer surface of the insert and an inner surface of the tapered slot. A layer of a braze material is deposited on the outer surface of the insert, where a thickness of the layer corresponds to the braze gap. The layer of the braze material on the outer surface of the insert is sintered to fabricate a diffusion layer. The insert is positioned into the tapered slot. The diffusion layer is brazed to join the insert to the taper slot. The treated component includes a surface having a tapered slot, an insert, and a braze joint.

摘要: A variable nozzle unit is used in a turbine having a gas inflow passage which is sandwiched between a first flow passage wall surface and a second flow passage wall surface facing each other and through which a gas flowing from a scroll flow passage into a turbine impeller flows. The variable nozzle unit includes nozzle vanes, each of which is rotatably supported on both sides thereof by the first flow passage wall surface side and the second flow passage wall surface side and pivots about a pivotal axis parallel to the rotational axis of the turbine impeller in the gas inflow passage. An end face of the nozzle vane is formed with a cut face that is located closer to a leading edge than the pivotal axis, is cut out such that a gap between the cut face and the second flow passage wall surface is greater than other regions, and intersects the leading edge.

摘要: A blade outer air seal member includes a distinct body that has two circumferential sides, a leading edge and a trailing edge, and a gas path side and a radially outer side opposite the gas path side. A ceramic coating is initially disposed on a portion of the gas path side. The ceramic coating includes a forward coating portion and an aft coating portion. The gas path side has a bare area axially separating the forward coating portion and the aft coating portion. The bare area excludes any of the ceramic coating. One or more cooling passages have an outlet that opens at the bare area. The cooling passage extends in the body in an axial direction under the ceramic coating.

A bearing set for an ESP assembly includes a rotatable sleeve, and a bushing outward of the rotatable sleeve, the bushing including a tubular portion, and a radial flange extending around a downstream side of the tubular portion. An ESP assembly includes a rotatable shaft, at least one stage stacked in series on the rotatable shaft, each stage including a diffuser, a stationary bearing member including a tubular portion secured within a working fluid exit of the diffuser, a stationary member flange extending radially outward from a top of the tubular portion, and a rotatable sleeve inward of the stationary bearing member and secured to the rotatable shaft. A bearing set for an ESP assembly includes a bushing including a tubular portion, and an annular retaining ring groove extending around an outer surface of the tubular portion.
