摘要: A starter system including a motor, a solenoid assembly having a solenoid switch, a pinion rotated by the motor and moveable into an engaging position in which an engine may be cranked and the solenoid switch is closed to energize the motor from an electric power source, and relay switch regulated by a controller and closed to apply electrical power to the solenoid assembly for actuating the solenoid switch. The controller repeatedly opens and closes relay switch during a starting operation if sensed motor energization voltage monitored by the controller falls below a predetermined threshold level within a predetermined time period after electrical power is applied to the solenoid assembly, whereby electrical power applications to the solenoid assembly are automatically repeated during a starting operation to correct “click-no-crank” events and prevent prolonged power application to the solenoid assembly. A related method is also disclosed.

摘要: A starter for an internal combustion engine may include a support, an electric motor for driving a pinion in rotation, and a solenoid drive configured to axially adjust the pinion between an active position for driving a gearwheel of an internal combustion engine, and an axially offset passive position. The solenoid drive may include a ferromagnetic solenoid housing fastened to the support, a ferromagnetic plunger stop arranged one of in and at the solenoid housing, a ferromagnetic plunger axially adjustable relative to the plunger stop extending axially through a passage opening of a face side wall of the solenoid housing, and a cylindrical coil arrangement arranged in the solenoid housing surrounding a cylindrical coil interior in a circumferential direction. The plunger stop may include a cylindrical section projecting axially into the coil interior. The cylindrical section may have a face end facing towards the face side wall.

摘要: A starter controller incorporated in a starter control system for controlling actuation of a first starter and a second starter to start an engine. The second starter is an alternating-current (AC) starter. The starter control system actuates the first starter in response to an engine start-up request, deactivates the first starter before completion of engine start-up, and activates the second starter while the second starter is being rotated by rotation of an engine rotary shaft. In the starter controller, a determination unit is configured to, under a condition where the engine rotary shaft is rotating after deactivation of the first starter, determine whether or not recognition of rotation of the second starter is complete. A fail-safe unit is configured to, if the recognition of rotation of the second starter is complete, perform predefined fail-safe processing responding to an abnormality in the second starter.

The valve timing changing means is thereupon caused to change the intake valve close timing (IVC) to a predetermined advance angle position and subsequently locked thereat. The engine is then controlled to stop.

摘要: In an engine control device, an automatic engine stop control section automatically stops an engine operating when an automatic engine stop condition is satisfied. An engine start control section supplies electric power to a starter to drive the starter when receiving an initial engine start intention signal transmitted from a push starter and when an automatic engine start condition has been satisfied. An engine start completion detection section detects whether the engine start of the engine has finished. An automatic engine stop permission section permits the automatic engine stop control section to stop the engine operating when the automatic engine stop permission section detects that the engine start has finished at a timing when the engine start control section has started the engine after receiving an initial engine start intention detection signal transmitted from the push starter.

The starter pinion can be displaced axially into a removal position.
