摘要: Aspects of the present invention relate to a method (500) of fabricating a cover for an interior trim component or an exterior trim component for a vehicle. The method comprising forming a 3D knitted structure (510) by knitting together at least one heat activated yarn and at least one non-heat activated yarn. The structure may be arranged whereby, during a subsequent heat treatment process (520) in which the cover is heated to a temperature at or above an activation temperature, the heat-activated yarn is activated thereby to form an automotive cover having a knitted structure of increased stiffness once cooled.

摘要: A method produces a seat cover for a vehicle seat made of a form-fit knit part. The form-fit knit part has continuous fibers and reinforcing fibers, and each of the reinforcing fibers is made of a core fiber and a cladding fiber coaxially sheathing the core fiber. The form-fit knit part is first produced using a knitting machine, and the seat cover is subsequently produced from the form-fit knit part using an ironing machine. The ironing machine has at least one lower mold in the shape of the vehicle seat, and the core fiber has a higher melting point than the cladding fiber.

摘要: Upholstery tufting apparatus comprises an insertion needle (5) with an aperture (4) to receive a tuft for insertion into an article to be upholstered. The tuft is presented to the needle aperture (4) along a tuft feed axis (3). The apparatus has a plurality of tuft strings (2a, 2b, 2c), a first string (2a) with tufts of a first length and a second string (2b) with tufts of different second length. The apparatus has one or more tuft feed units, and an actuator operatively connected to said tuft feed unit(s). The first and second tuft strings (2a, 2b) are associated with the tuft feed unit(s). A selected one of the tuft feed unit(s) is actuatable by the actuator to align one of the first and second strings (2a, 2b) with the tuft feed axis (3) according to the length of tuft required to be inserted into an article to be upholstered. A method for tufting an upholstered article employing said apparatus is also described.

摘要: Presented herein are active textile structures with selectively variable surface friction characteristics, methods for making/using such structures, and vehicle components fabricated with electronically controlled textile structures with modifiable surface friction characteristics. An active textile system for governing frictional force levels at an interface with a user or object is presented. The system includes a textile structure that is fabricated from interlaced first and second textile filaments. Each textile filament has a respective texture that exhibits a distinct coefficient of friction. The textile structure has an outer and/or upper contact surface at the interface with the user/object. An actuating element, which is connected to the textile structure, is operable to selectively transition the textile structure between first and second states. The first state includes the first textile filament defining the textile structure's outer contact surface, whereas the second state includes the second textile filament defining the outer contact surface.

摘要: In an embodiment, the present invention provides a method for producing a structured microfilament non-woven, including: forming a non-woven by spinning microfilaments and/or composite filaments that can be split into microfilaments to form at least one fiber layer, stretching the at least one fiber layer, and laying the at least one fiber layer; thermally pre-bonding the non-woven; treating the thermally pre-bonded non-woven using a pressurized medium in order to break the thermal pre-bonding at least in part; and further applying a pressurized medium to the non-woven while the non-woven is resting on a structure-producing surface, so as to obtain a structured microfilament non-woven.

摘要: Flame retardant covers for mattress and flame retardant mattresses are provided. At least a portion of the fibers, yarns or the fabric of the covers is treated with a blend comprising a flame retardant compound such as ammonium phosphate. The covers do not further require any flame barrier element such as fiberglass or silica-loaded rayon. The mattresses provided herein fully comply with the federal mattress flammability standards of 16 C.F.R. 1632 and 1633.
