A method for manufacturing a flexible surface element with at least one thermoplastic, thermosetting and/or elastomeric wear layer is provided. The method includes introducing expandable hollow microspheres into the wear layer and/or a functional layer, applying at least one pressure-resistant layer detachably to the wear layer, and subsequently heating at least one section of the surface element to be treated by a thermal energy supply to a temperature within an expansion temperature range of the hollow microspheres, so that at least the hollow microspheres contained in the section to be treated are at least partially expanded and/or further expanded. Expansion of the hollow microspheres is limited by pressure-resistant properties of the pressure-resistant layer. The method further includes removing the pressure-resistant layer from the wear layer at least sectionally.

Technologies are generally described for composite membranes that may include a nanoporous graphene layer sandwiched between a first selective membrane and a porous support substrate. The composite membranes may be formed by depositing the selective membrane on one side of the nanoporous graphene layer, while the other side of the nanoporous graphene layer may be supported at a nonporous support substrate. The nanoporous graphene layer may be removed with the selective membrane from the nonporous support substrate and contacted to the porous support substrate to form the composite membranes. By depositing the selective membrane on a flat surface, the nanoporous graphene on the nonporous support substrate, the selective membranes may be produced with reduced defect formation at thicknesses of as little as 0.1 μm or less. The described composite membranes may have increased permeance compared to thicker selective membranes, and structural strength greater than thin selective membranes alone.

The substrate material prepared according to the present invention is an eco-friendly material, also is capable of weight lightening by weight reduction, and is excellent in humidity-resistance and strength, thus providing for application to various industries such as train interior, aircraft interior, and architectural interior as well as automotive interior.

An air permeable elastic laminate and a fabricating method thereof are disclosed. At least two materials having different elasticity coefficients are combined to form an elastic laminate. A thermal melting processing technique is utilized to perform a local thermal treatment to the elastic laminate so as to form a plurality of hardened parts on the elastic laminate. A stretch stress is applied to the elastic laminate in order to break the hardened parts. The elastic laminate is elastically recovered after the stretch stress is released. The air permeability is provided to the elastic laminate through the broken hardened parts, and the unhardened parts on the elastic laminate still have elasticity.

Light weight acoustic carpet including porous carpeting backed by a primary sound reducing layer and localized secondary insulators for use within vehicles, and methods of making same, are provided. A porous carpet structure including a carpet backing is heated to achieve a fluid or semi-fluid state and then subjected to intense vacuum to draw air through the carpet backing to create a porous structure. A layer of sound absorbing or insulating material may be applied to the porous carpet structure to provide improved acoustic properties. Secondary sound reducing absorbers/insulators may further be included as part of the molding process to provide selected areas of increased thickness and provide tailoring of sound attenuation.
