摘要： A textile laminate for covering diverse substrates includes a backing layer to be placed adjacent to the substrate, a substantially non-shrinkable fibrous layer coextensive with the backing layer and an adhesive component to bind the fibrous layer to the backing layer. The adhesive component is activated to adhere the fibrous and backing layers only at selected bonding points in a pattern bond. The backing layer is a material adapted to irreversibly shrink by at least about 25% such that after the backing layer shrinks, the fibrous layer separates from the backing layer at locations away from the bonding points and forms pile-like loops that protrude in a direction normal to the plane of the textile laminate.

摘要： Water-swellable hot-melt adhesives based on a tackifying resin, a water-dispersible EVA wax, an ethylene/acrylic ester copolymer, a water-soluble homo- or co-polymer and a super absorber polymer powder having an average particle size of less than 80 &mgr;m display a clearly improved swelling behavior in comparison with the prior art. Furthermore, the swelling agent is significantly more homogeneously distributed in the matrix. Such hot-melt adhesives are suitable for ensuring longitudinal water impermeability in modern cable structures, as water-swellable jointing compounds in the building industry in the area of building conservation and restoration. Such hot-melt adhesives are further suitable for the manufacture of absorbent textile fabrics in the personal hygiene sector.

摘要： A cleaning tape is edge-stabilized using an adhesive that is solvent resistant. The edge-stabilizing adhesive is a one-step cross-linkable formulation of polyvinyl alcohol, ammonium zirconium carbonate, an acetylinic surfactant and a non-silicone defoaming agent. The formulation is applied to the sides of a woven cotton cleaning tape roll and then is allowed to dry and cure. The resulting cleaning tape can be used in a surface buffing operation in which a solvent is applied to the cleaning tape, without contamination of the surface to be buffed by fibers from the tape or by the edge-stabilizing adhesive.

These compositions can be extended with significant proportions of the described chalcogenides with corresponding reductions in polymer concentration without significant loss of physical properties. The resulting combinations are particularly useful as binders and coatings.
