摘要: A lubricating oil composition and method of operating a boosted internal combustion engine. The lubricating oil composition includes greater than 50 wt. % of a base oil, one or more overbased calcium sulfonate detergent(s) and one or more overbased calcium phenate detergent(s). The calcium, boron, nitrogen, and amount of soap are maintained within certain ratios, and the total base number contribution from all detergents to the lubricating oil composition is less than 4.2 mg KOH/g of the lubricating oil composition, as measured by the method of ASTM D-2896. The lubricating oil composition and method may be effective to reduce low-speed pre-ignition events in a boosted internal combustion engine lubricated with the lubricating oil composition relative to capable lubricating oil compositions.

摘要: A method for reducing timing chain stretch in an engine comprising a step of lubricating said timing chain with a lubricating oil composition that includes a major amount of a base oil; and a minor amount of an additive package including (a) at least one overbased calcium detergent, (b) at least one borated dispersant, (c) a metal dialkyl dithiophosphate, and (d) at least one molybdenum compound. The lubricating oil composition has a TBN value of at least 7.5 mg KOH/g of the lubricating oil composition, at least 80 ppm of molybdenum, based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition, a weight ratio of total calcium in the lubricating oil composition to total molybdenum in the lubricating oil composition of less than 8.4; and a weight ratio of nitrogen from the dispersant in the lubricating composition to total boron in the lubricating oil composition of from 2.6 to 3.0.

摘要: The present invention relates to a brake fluid composition comprising (a) a glycol compound and boron-containing compound mixture as solvents, (b) corrosion inhibitior, (c) and tartatric acid, imidazole or a mixture of tartaric acid and imidazole as antioxidants. Provided is a brake fluid composition having improved capabilities for inhibiting thermal oxidation, metallic and high-temperature corrosion. The brake fluid composition according to the present invention significantly improves long-term durability by reducing metal dot corrosion and preventing boronic acid precipitation on a test piece, while having a superior thermal oxidation inhibition capability, and has superior capabilities for inhibiting high-temperature oxidation and corrosion while having negligible effects on the equilibrium reflux boiling point and the wet equilibrium reflux boiling point.

摘要: An engine lubricant formulated as a complete crankcase motor oil or additive concentrate composed of a combination of chemical constituents including a base oil selected from a synthetic oil, a mineral oil or semi-synthetic base oil (hydrogenated oil) or combination thereof, an oil soluble molybdenum additive, a dispersant inhibitor containing zinc dithiophosphate, and viscosity index improvers and one or more seal swelling agents to lubricate the engine and recondition the seals of new and/or high mileage engines. Addition of a polyalphaolefin and/or one or more esters such as a diester or polyolester may also be utilized therein. The lubricant may be formulated as a complete engine oil crankcase lubricant, or concentrated into an additive for addition to conventional mineral oil based engine oil, synthetic engine oils, or blends thereof in an effective amount of up to 30 percent volume percent, typically from 20 to 25 percent by volume.
