摘要: The invention addresses a problem of providing a lubricating oil composition for gas engines capable of suppressing viscosity increase while reducing a sulfated ash content and excellent in high-temperature detergency and base number retention. The lubricating oil composition is used for gas engines and contains a base oil (A), at least one ash-free additive (B) selected from an ash-free sulfur-based antioxidant (B1) and a hindered amine compound (B2), and a boronated imide-type dispersant (C), and satisfies the following requirements (X1) to (X3): Requirement (X1): the sulfated ash content is 0.2% by mass or less. Requirement (X2): the content of the ash-free additive (B) is 1.2% by mass or less based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, provided that in the case where the ash-free additive (B) contains the hindered amine compound (B2), the content of the hindered amine compound (B2) is less than 1.0% by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition. Requirement (X3): the content of the boron atom derived from the boronated imide-type dispersant (C) is 200 ppm by mass or more based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition.

摘要: The instant disclosure generally relates to lubricating compositions having an oil of lubricating viscosity, a boron-containing additive, a boron-free dispersant, an overbased magnesium-based detergent, an overbased calcium-based detergent, an ashless friction modifier, and, optionally, other performance additives. The instant lubricating composition has a High Temperature High Shear (HTHS) viscosity according to ASTM D4683 of less than 2.7 mPa s. The instant lubricating compositions disclosed herein may accomplish one or more of the following improve fuel economy, reduce corrosion, reduce oxidation, improve cleanliness, and improve wear performance of an internal combustion engine.

摘要: A method for preventing or reducing low speed pre-ignition in an engine lubricated with a lubricating oil while maintaining or improving cleanliness by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and at least one boron-containing compound and at least one overbased calcium detergent as minor components. The at least one boron-containing compound includes at least one borated dispersant, or a mixture of a boron-containing compound and a non-borated dispersant. The boron to nitrogen ratio for the at least one boron-containing compound is less than or equal to about 0.3 and the lubricating oil is essentially free of elemental magnesium. The lubricating oils of this disclosure are particularly advantageous as passenger vehicle engine oil (PVEO) products.

摘要: An additive package is disclosed for preparing an automotive crankcase lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine. The additive package is made by admixing: (i) 50 mass % or less of an oil of lubricating viscosity; (ii) 50 mass % or less of at least one overbased metal detergent, preferably at least one overbased metal hydroxybenzoate detergent; (iii) 50 mass % or less of an oil-soluble block or graft co-polymer of at to least one polymeric block A which is derived from a hydroxycarboxylic acid and at least one polyalkylene block B which is a residue of a polyalkylene glycol, and (iv) optionally, at least one further additive selected from a dispersant, an antioxidant and/or an antiwear agent. The additive package includes less than 2.00 mass % preferably less than 1.50 mass %, of a friction modifier which is a monoester of a C5 to C30 carboxylic acid and which is free of nitrogen.Component (ii) is preferably an overbased metal hydroxybenzoate detergent.Component (iii) acts as a friction modifier and can be used as a replacement for a friction modifier such as glycerol monooleate.The additive package exhibits improved stability.

摘要: The present invention relates to a cylinder lubricating oil for crosshead diesel engines. In addition to having conventional characteristics such as heat resistance, cleanliness, wear resistance, and the like, the cylinder lubricating oil can be used with fuel of any sulfur content and suppresses the amount of piston deposit even when the base number is excessive. In greater detail, the present invention relates to a cylinder lubricating oil composition which includes an ashless dispersant (B) and a metallic detergent (C) in a lubricant base oil (A), in which the product of the number average molecular weight, the content, and the effective concentration of the ashless dispersant (B) is at least 9000, and the endothermic peak temperature of the metallic detergent (C) as measured by DSC at a rate of temperature increase of 50° C./min is at most 460° C.
