Abstract:
Adhesive resin compositions, for the manufacture of wood-based panels, comprising thermosetting resin and nanocellulose, wood-based panels comprising said adhesive resin compositions, methods of using said adhesive resin compositions, and methods of preparing said adhesive resin compositions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composition obtained by simultaneously mixing at least one isocyanate, at least one polyether and at least one amino resin, wherein said polyether comprises at least one ethylene oxide moiety and at least one isocyanate reactive group selected from the group comprising hydroxyl, amino, epoxy, and thiol, and wherein said amino resin is the condensation product of an aldehyde with a compound selected from the group comprising urea, melamine, benzoguanamine, glycoluril, acetoguanamine and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
An improved composite wood adhesive filler, a method of producing such a filler, and an adhesive mixture including such filler are provided, with the filler having performance satisfactory to the manufacturing needs of composite and ply wood products. The adhesive mixture may comprise a filler and one or more extenders. The filler can replace extenders for weight, without introducing instability or viscosity problems. The filler may be drawn from the residue co-product of cellulosic ethanol production using corn stover as feed stock material, which would otherwise be a waste product.
Abstract:
Aqueous binder compositions for fiber mats include a urea-formaldehyde resin and an aqueous emulsion of a copolymer prepared by polymerization of a monomer mixture including styrene, an alkyl(meth)acrylate, acrylonitrile, and an unsubstituted or substituted acrylamide. Even when used in relatively low concentration, the copolymer provides improved physical properties to the fiber mat. The fiber mats can be used in composite flooring, asphalt roofing shingles, siding, and dry wall.
Abstract:
Provided is thermosetting urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin binder formulation, preferably prepared with modified styrene-maleic anhydride. The formulation has a viscosity in the range of from 3 to 10 cP and a surface tension of from 35 to 50 mN/m, and is prepared using a UF resin composition exhibiting a viscosity of from 175 to 250 cP.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a binder system comprising aminoplast resins, at least one acetal of partly or completely hydrolyzed polyvinyl ester and aldehyde and acid. The invention furthermore relates to a process for the production of glued materials using said binder system, and wood-base materials which comprise this binder system.
Abstract:
Water soluble polymers are incorporated into cellulose adhesives comprising phenol formaldehyde and related formaldehyde resins to impart more resistance to sagging and to increase the open time of the adhesive. A preferred use of the modified adhesive is as an adhesive for assembling engineered wood products such as strand board, particle board, medium density fiberboard, plywood and engineered products such as I-beams. The water soluble polymers achieve the objectives of increased sag resistance and more open time by increasing the viscosity of the adhesive and slowing the loss of water to the cellulose products and the air during use of the adhesive.
Abstract:
A modified copolymer latex binder comprising a styrene-butadiene latex and a urea-formaldehyde resin that may be used in preparation of polyester fiber mats that are useful in the roofing industry.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an adhesive system comprising (a) an etherified amino resin, (b) a polymer prepared from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers, (c) a curing agent, and (d) a polyvinyl alcohol and the use thereof for gluing wood based products. The invention also relates to a hardener composition for gluing systems of the amino resin type comprising, (b) a polymer prepared from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers, said polymer containing post-crosslinking groups, (c) a carboxylic acid and (d) a polyvinyl alcohol and the use thereof for formulating an adhesive system. The invention further relates to a method of application of the adhesive system or the hardener composition onto the surface to be glued.
