摘要: A method of production of lignin and hemicellulose from a plant lignocellulosic material includes (a) contacting a plant lignocellulosic material with an extraction solution during more than 2 hours at a temperature between 95° ° C. to 110° C., thereby obtaining a solid fraction and a liquid fraction, (b) separating the solid fraction and the liquid fraction, (c) concentrating the liquid fraction so as to obtain a concentrated liquid fraction, (d) mixing equal parts by weight of water with the concentrated liquid fraction so as to obtain a suspension comprising solid particles in suspension in a liquid medium, (e) separating the particles and the medium of the suspension, (f) recovering the particles of the suspension thereby obtaining a fraction comprising lignin called lignified fraction, (g) recovering the medium of the suspension thereby obtaining a fraction comprising hemicellulose called hemicellulosic fraction.

摘要: Processes disclosed are capable of converting biomass into high-crystallinity nanocellulose with surprisingly low mechanical energy input. In some variations, the process includes fractionating biomass with an acid (such as sulfur dioxide), a solvent (such as ethanol), and water, to generate cellulose-rich solids and a liquid containing hemicellulose and lignin; and mechanically treating the cellulose-rich solids to form nanofibrils and/or nanocrystals. The crystallinity of the nanocellulose material may be 80% or higher, translating into good reinforcing properties for composites. The nanocellulose material may include nanofibrillated cellulose, nanocrystalline cellulose, or both. In some embodiments, the nanocellulose material is hydrophobic via deposition of some lignin onto the cellulose surface. Optionally, sugars derived from amorphous cellulose and hemicellulose may be separately fermented, such as to monomers for various polymers. These polymers may be combined with the nanocellulose to form completely renewable composites.

摘要: The invention proposes a method of separating hemicellulose through efficient pretreatment of fibrous biomass materials. Fibrous biomass materials are first pretreated by the slurry method: the fibrous biomass materials are milled through ball mills and sieved to obtain fibrous biomass material powder, and the powder is mixed with water at room temperature to obtain slurry premixed solution of the fibrous biomass material powder. Through regulation and control of the reaction temperature, the time and the water amount, efficient hydrothermal removal of hemicellulose from the fibrous biomass material powder is realized. After the mixed solution is filtered, the filtrate is subject to gradient sedimentation to separate hemicellulose with low dispersity, and the sediment is then dried before storage. After the filter residue is mixed with polar aprotic solvent and water, and heated and stirred in a pressurized reactor, high-purity cellulose is obtained through filtering and separation.

摘要: Agricultural residues (biomasses) have come-up as potential valuable renewable resources for transformation into many bio-products. To achieve this goal, the isolation of major biopolymers in their purest form through an economical process is demanded for synthesis of the target fine chemicals without impurities. However, the difficulty of fractionating the biomass into cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin by a simple method has greatly limited their isolation from agricultural residues. Also, the lipids and waxes present on the surface of the agricultural residues protect it from external chemical and microbial agents. To overcome this issue, the lipids and waxes have been isolated from the biomass through two step organic solvents extraction. Thereafter lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose are isolated successively from the de-waxed biomass.

摘要: A novel diazirine-based biocompatible polymer that can be used as on-demand or tunable bioadhesive and applied across various clinically important surfaces. The biocompatible polymer comprises a single strand of repeating units and up to 5,000 photoreactive diazirine groups covalently attached to it. A bioadhesive composition comprises the polymer of the present invention and suitable solvents, surfactants, stabilizers, fillers and other additives. The composition may additionally contain metallic particles of size less than 50 micron made of rare earth elements and has UV or NIR transparency less than 1 optical density unit per 1 centimeter. The poly-diazirine surface grafted thin films can be used for minimally invasive surgeries.
