Abstract: A process is disclosed for making CF3CF═CHF. The process involves reacting CF3CClFCCl2F with H2 in a reaction zone in the presence of a catalyst to produce a product mixture comprising CF3CF═CHF. The catalyst has a catalytically effective amount of palladium supported on a support selected from the group consisting of alumina, fluorided alumina, aluminum fluoride and mixtures thereof and the mole ratio of H2 to CF3CClFCCl2F fed to the reaction zone is between about 1:1 and about 5:1. Also disclosed are azeotropic compositions of CF3CClFCCl2F and HF and azeotropic composition of CF3CHFCH2F and HF.

Abstract: A method of producing trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) includes providing a feedstock comprising trifluoroacetyl iodide (TFAI), passing the feedstock through at least one column charged with carbonaceous materials to remove hydrogen iodide (HI), hydrogen triiodide (HI3) and iodine (I2) from the feedstock, and providing the feedstock to a reactor to produce a trifluoroiodomethane product stream.
Another method of producing trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) includes providing a feedstock comprising trifluoroacetyl iodide (TFAI) to a reactor to produce a trifluoroiodomethane product stream, and passing the trifluoroiodomethane product stream from the reactor through at least one column charged with carbonaceous materials to remove hydrogen iodide (HI), hydrogen triiodide (HI3) and iodine (I2) from the trifluoroiodomethane product stream.-

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for purifying 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propene (1234yf) using a first composition comprising 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propene, 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (245cb) and trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propene (1234ze-E), said method comprising the steps of: (a) bringing said first composition into contact with at least one organic extraction agent in order to form a second composition; (b) extractive distillation of said second composition in order to form a third composition comprising said organic extraction agent and trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-I-propene (I234ze-E), and a stream comprising the 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-I-propene and the 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (245cb); and (c) recovery and separation of said third composition in order to form a stream comprising said organic extraction agent and a stream comprising the trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-I-propene (1234ze-E). The invention also relates to a method for producing 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-I-propene.
