Abstract: A hinge device is provided for a front hood of a motor vehicle. The front hood can be opened and closed by way of the hinge device, and the front hood can be adjusted from a normal position into a protective position in the event of a collision. The hinge device has a single front hood control link and a force introducing element which are connected in a rotatable manner relative to each other. The front hood control link and the force introducing element are arranged relative to each other in the protective position such that a first connection line from the first to the second rotational point and a second connection line from the first to the third rotational point form an angle which ranges from 150 degrees to 180 degrees in order to minimize vibrations of the front hood produced by the movement from the normal position into the protective position.

Abstract: An airbag device for pedestrian protection adapted to be mounted on a vicinity of the rear end of a vehicle hood. The airbag includes a transverse inflatable portion that covers a cowl of the vehicle generally entirely in the vehicle width direction when deployed, and an inlet port that is disposed in a front end region of the transverse inflatable portion to be coupled with an inflator. The airbag is stored in a housing in a folded-up configuration. The airbag is folded up through a front-rear contracting step that provides a front-rear contracted bag, i.e. a form of the airbag which has gone through the front-rear contracting step, and a transversely contracting step which folds the front-rear contracted bag with a crease at a vicinity of an outer end in a left and right direction of the inlet port. A transversely-contracted fold portion formed in the transversely contracting step and the inlet port are arranged in a stratified fashion.

Abstract: A gas pressure actuator includes a launcher, a gas generator that is disposed at a first axial end of the launcher, a rocket part placed inside the launcher, an end pad and a sealing gasket respectively disposed at a second axial end of the launcher, and a gasket holder supporting the gasket. The rocket part includes a first portion disposed at a location corresponding to the first axial end and a second portion that has a diameter less than that of the first portion and that ranges from the first portion toward the second axial end. The end pad includes a position determination part that determines positioning of the rocket part and restricts the rocket part from being displaced in a direction away from the first axial end.
