Abstract: A drive device for a pivotable vehicle flap includes a flap part associated with the vehicle flap, a body part associated with a vehicle body and a hinge arrangement which hingedly connects the flap part and the body part, the hinge arrangement allowing the flap part to be pivoted about a first axis of rotation for opening and closing the vehicle flap and about a second axis of rotation for raising the vehicle flap into a pedestrian protection position. The device drive also includes a first actuator for opening and closing the vehicle flap during normal operation, a second actuator for raising the vehicle flap into a pedestrian protection position and a coupling device for coupling the first actuator to one of the flap part and the vehicle flap. The coupling device includes a fastening part and a first coupling element coupled to the first actuator.

Abstract: A hinge assembly is provided to lift a hood of a vehicle relative to a vehicle body in anticipation of, during, or right after a collision has occurred to cushion contact with a pedestrian. The hood selectively covers a compartment of the vehicle when in a secured position. The hinge assembly includes a hinge configured to guide the hood from the secured position to both of an open position or to a pedestrian deployment position relative to the vehicle body. An actuator moves the hood from the secured position to the pedestrian deployment position. A controller controls the actuator based at least in part on a characteristic of the pedestrian.

Abstract: A hood lifting actuator according to various implementations includes a piston, a locking ring, and a housing including a protrusion. The housing further includes a distal end, the distal end defining a distal end wall, wherein the locking ring is retained between the distal end wall and the protrusion prior to actuation of the actuator. The piston travels from a retracted position to an extended position. In the extended position, the hood lifting actuator lifts a portion of a vehicle hood into an elevated position. In response to a force urging the piston from the extended position toward the retracted position, such as a person impacting the portion of the vehicle hood, the locking ring engages the protrusion and the piston, thereby locking the piston in a locked position.

Abstract: A deployable flap hinge includes a flap part (2) corresponding to a flap (A). The deployable flap hinge also includes a locking assembly (40) for locking the deploying movement of the flap upper part (4), and a pretensioning device (10) for pretensioning the flap upper part (4) in the direction of the deployed position. The pretensioning device (10) includes a pretensioning element (11) formed as a single piece from a part of the flap hinge (1).

A reliable and compact drive device is provided in that during conventional operation, the first lever and the second lever are connected to one another in a rotationally fixed manner via a mechanical securing element.

Abstract: Technology is provided which allows the amount of a hood protruding forward from a striker to be reduced at a normal time before the pop-up hood system is operated, and allowing the stroke when the front end of the hood rotates downward when the pop-up hood system is operated to be reduced, such that it is possible to effectively utilize the space. A hood retraction structure includes: a slider provided at a front side lower portion of a hood; and a rail that is provided on an upper portion of a striker body constituting a hood locking mechanism, movable in a longitudinal direction relative to the slider, and is longer than the slider in a length in the longitudinal direction. Retraction of the slider relative to the rail allows the hood to retract relative to the hood locking mechanism.
