    摘要: In existing manufacturing methods wherein a bonded seat is formed by adhering a surface skin material to a pad made from molded foam, defects may occur from curing of the adhesive, such as reduced flexibility and a poor texture on the seat contact surface. In addition, the manufacturing steps therefor are complicated. In order to solve the above problems, the present invention provides a manufacturing method for a vehicle seat having a molded pad and a trim cover that covers the molded pad. The molded pad has a groove, and an adhesive is applied to the inside of the groove. The trim cover is pressed into the inside of the groove, and a steam nozzle is inserted into the molded pad from the surface of the molded pad opposite from the surface covered by the trim cover. Heat or steam from the steam nozzle melts the adhesive inside the groove so as to adhere the trim cover to the groove. It is thus possible to provide a vehicle seat and a manufacturing method therefor with which a contact surface can exhibit a good texture and manufacturing steps can be simplified.

    摘要: A vehicle seat comprising a foam padding having a through-bore, a surface cover element covering a surface of the foam padding, and a functional element formed from a soft material. The functional element has a tubular body fitted in the through-bore of the foam padding and a flange integral with the tubular body. An area of the flange of the functional element, adjacent to a peripheral end of the flange, is sewn with a reverse side of an edge portion of an opening defined in the surface cover element, such reverse side facing to the foam padding. The surface cover element with the flange thus sewn therewith covers the foam padding, with the tubular body being fitted in the through-bore of the foam padding, so that a surface of the flange and an opening of the tubular body are exposed in an outer surface of the vehicle seat.

In one embodiment, the seat bottom (12) and seat back (14) are formed from a blow molded frame (16) including side walls (18) extending generally upwardly from a bottom panel (20). A support mat (32) comprising fabric/rubber webbing extends across a central cut-out region (28) in the bottom panel (20) and supports an inflatable cushion (48) comprising a series of air cells (50). An extensible upholstery or trim cover layer (56) covers the inflatable cushion (48) and is joined to the frame (16). In a second embodiment, the seat bottom (12) and seat back (14) are formed from a blow molded shell (62). An intermediate layer (64) of plastics material is provided on the shell (62) beneath an upholstery layer (68). An opening in the shell (62) allows the intermediate layer (64) to be expanded outwardly from the shell (62) as the pressure within the shell (62) is increased.
