Abstract:
A motor vehicle seat having a backrest and a seat part, at least one flexible, fluid-fillable hollow body attached to the seat part or the backrest, and at least two chambers that are in fluid communication with one another. The chambers are arranged one on top of the other and have in their walls corresponding passages which enable a fluid exchange between the chambers. The chambers are firmly connected to one another in the region of the passages, wherein the volume of the lowermost chamber adjacent to the seat part or the backrest is the largest and the volume of each additional chamber is smaller compared with the volume of the chamber below it. The chambers are arranged one on top of the other such that the maximum lift of the fluid-fillable hollow body when it is being filled with fluid is outside the center of the lowermost chamber.
Abstract:
The invention relates generally to a system and methods for facilitating correcting and maintaining a good posture. More specifically, the invention is directed to a posture correcting chair including a seating component, a pump mechanism, and a frame assembly. The seating component may include an inflatable element and a base element. The inflatable element and the base element form a housing. The pump mechanism may include a pump—such as a mechanical or electrical pump—for pumping a medium into or out from the housing such that an occupant of the seating component may maintain a good posture.
Abstract:
According to one aspect, embodiments of the invention provide a recreational floatation device comprising a body portion comprising an inflatable member having a first inner perimeter surrounding a first inner area, a first support portion comprising a layer of material extending through the first inner area and attached to the inflatable member at its first inner perimeter to support a user of the device, a back support member located within said first inner area, a hinge mechanism coupled to the back support member and the first inner perimeter and configured to allow the back support member to rotate between a first position, wherein a substantial portion of the back support member extends generally away from the first inner area, and a second position, in which the back support member lies substantially within the first inner area.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a rotatable connector assembly, also referred to as a two-part connector assembly that allows connection of one object or member bearing one part of the assembly to another object or member bearing the other part of the assembly, and further allows rotation of the members with respect to each other in a plane parallel to the plane of the assembled connector, assures that the two connector members remain attached under load and shear forces, and permits ready detachment of the connector members from each other.
Abstract:
A seating apparatus with adjustable cushioning, comprises a seat base and an inflatable bladder comprising a plurality of air cells. The inflatable bladder is positioned in between at least two polyurethane foam layers, supported on the seat base. The seating apparatus further comprises a pump unit operatively connected to the inflatable bladder via a conduit for inflating or deflating the plurality of air cells for providing adjustable firmness to the seating apparatus.

Abstract:
Portable structures convert into furniture articles, such as chairs, backrests, and tables, when substantially filled with sand and revert to collapsed portable structures for easy transport after a substantial amount of sand has been removed. The portable structures include a cover, made from a flexible and deformable material, and a frame that includes one or more flexible frame members disposed on or incorporated within the cover. The flexible frame members have spring-like characteristics such that a portable structure, without substantial sand therein, can be collapsed for storage and/or transport, and when ready for use, automatically converted to an “uncollapsed pop-up” state adapted to receive sand filling to form the furniture article.
Abstract:
A furniture element is characterized in that it comprises a first flexible inner envelope (30) defining therein a first volume (22) adapted to receive a material comprising a fluid with a first density and a second flexible outer envelope (10), the inner envelope and the outer envelope defining together a second volume (21) surrounding the first volume (22) and adapted to receive a second material comprising a fluid and flexible particles with a second density higher than the first density, a first closable port (40) for entry or exit of fluid into/from said first volume, opening to the outside, and a second closable port (50) for the entry or exit of fluid into/from said second volume, opening to the outside. The invention can be used in particular for improving the comfort and facilitating the transportation of large volume seat-type or cushion type elements (typically from 0.2 to 1 m2) for outdoor use (terraces, swimming pools, etc.).
Abstract:
Methods of soothing a child by using a furniture piece including an inflated body with a seat on a first side and a base on an opposing second side. The furniture piece is positioned with the base contacting against the floor and the body having a first shape and the seat facing upward away from the floor and positioned a first distance away from the floor. The child is positioned on the furniture piece and moved in a first vertical direction by applying a force to the body directed towards the floor. The force deforms the body from the first shape to a second shape and moves the seat towards the floor. The child is then moved in an opposing second vertical direction by removing the force from the body and returning the body to the first shape. The process is repeated to move the child in alternating upward/downward motions.
Abstract:
A voluminous padded chair or cushion forms an all-encompassing supportive structure through a voluminous, substantially donut shaped configuration. The voluminous configuration includes a padding, inflation, or liquids in the chair, a back portion that supports the back, neck and head of an infant, and a pair of support arms. A front portion provides an anchor for tethering toys and a tray thereto. A base seat for sitting is effective for absorbing urine and soil. The voluminous configuration supports and enwraps parts of the user's body to minimize random movement and thus preventing user from sliding down onto their back from a seated position. The chair is sufficiently voluminous, so that the chair is prevented from overturning from an upright position, even when the chair rests on an uneven surface or is occupied by a user who is moving excessively.
