Abstract:
A method for producing a document blank or a security document includes providing a substrate layer having a metal layer or applying a metal layer to a substrate layer, forming a color-effective pattern in or on the metal layer, in which the pattern has a pixel structure and each pixel includes at least two subpixels which cause a monochromatic color effect, and joining together the substrate layer and at least one further transparent substrate layer to form a document body. A security document blank, a personalized security document and a method for the laser personalization of security document blanks in color are also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of nanosystems as non deactivable security markers comprising metal atomic quantum clusters (AQCs) of at least two different size distributions encapsulated in a cavity with an inner diameter less than or equal to approximately 10 nm. These nanosystems are luminescence, particularly fluorescence after external excitation. The invention also relates to security documents, articles or elements incorporating these markers as well as to a method and a system for detecting the same.
Abstract:
We propose new methods for creating color or achromatic images that are printed with classical cyan, magenta, yellow and a white diffusing ink on a metallic substrate. We optimize the surface coverages of the cyan, magenta, yellow and white inks in order to create color prints on a metallic surface that look bright and colorful under specular reflection and also look good under non-specular observation conditions. We also provide new means for the prevention of counterfeits. A first effect enables viewing on the same metallic print one achromatic image in specular viewing mode and a second independent achromatic image in non-specular viewing mode. The second effect enables hiding a pattern such as text, graphics or a grayscale image within the printed color image in one viewing mode, specular or non-specular and showing that pattern in the second viewing mode, non-specular or specular, respectively.
Abstract:
A multi-layer body includes a carrier film, a release layer, an embossed hologram layer, and a vapor-plated reflection layer. An adhesive layer is UV activated and includes a partially activated zone. Cured adhesive regions connect a transparent polycarbonate film and parts of the embossed hologram layer to one another inseparably. The cured adhesive regions are arranged about the periphery of an uncured adhesive region of the adhesive layer to form a frame around the uncured adhesive region. A forgery-proof document is produced using the multi-layer body. Uncured adhesive regions of the multi-layer body are partially cured with UV light through an information-carrying optical mask. The carrier film is removed together with the release layer and non-bonded embossed hologram layer regions. An upper protective film is applied to individualized embossed hologram layers and is hot pressed together with additional films.
Abstract:
An optically variable surface pattern is made available, having at least two partial areas with reflection elements, wherein the reflection elements of the first partial region on the one hand and the reflection elements of the second partial region on the other hand reflect impinging light in different reflection directions. The first partial region is so covered with a first glazing ink layer that a viewer, upon a change of the viewing angle at which the viewer views the optically variable surface pattern, sees the first partial region glow in a first color upon reaching a first viewing angle. The second partial region glows in a second color that is different from the first color upon reaching a second viewing angle.

Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for forming a surface relief microstructure, especially an optically variable image on a paper substrate are provided, the method comprising the steps of: A) applying a curable composition to at least a portion of the frontside of the paper substrate; B) contacting at least a portion of the curable composition with surface relief microstructure, especially optically variable image forming means; C) curing the composition by using at least one UV lamp (1, 2, 3) which is arranged on the backside of the paper substrate; D) optionally depositing a layer of a transparent high refractive index material and/or a metallic layer on at least a portion of the cured composition, wherein the lamp (1, 2, 3) having emission peak(s) in the UV-A and near VIS range and the curable composition comprises at least a photoinitiator which absorbs in the UV-A region and preferably in the near VIS range. A paper product obtainable uses the method and an apparatus for forming a surface relief microstructure on a paper substrate. Surface relief microstructures, such as holograms may be replicated rapidly and with accuracy on a paper substrate by using the method and the apparatus.
