摘要: A method operates a flexographic printing press. The press contains a printing cylinder carrying a sleeve with at least one flexographic printing forme or a flexographic printing cylinder and an impression cylinder forming a printing nip with the printing cylinder to print on a web of printing substrate. The method includes automatically adjusting the transport speed of the web of printing substrate as a function of a dot density of the flexographic printing forme, i.e. of a location-dependent density of printing elevations on the flexographic printing forme, or of data computationally derived therefrom, or as a function of gaps of the flexographic printing forme or printing cylinder or data computationally derived therefrom. The printing press advantageously provides a cost-efficient way of producing high-quality prints in an industrial flexographic printing process while avoiding undesired vibration. In addition, the method of the invention advantageously provides further automation of the printing process.

摘要: The present invention embraces a method and apparatus for providing feedback to a user on the status of media or ribbon of a printer. The feedback may be provided by incorporating a feedback mechanism in a hanger of a printer. The printer may be a thermal printer, but may be another type of printer. The feedback mechanism of the printer may be designed to work with one or more sensors to provide a feedback loop so that without an input from a user, the printer is able to detect the presence/absence of media or ribbon, as well as determine the width of the loaded media or ribbon. In another embodiment, the feedback mechanism is able to determine the weight of the roll of media or ribbon and hence determine the quantity of media or ribbon available on the hanger.

摘要: A device for processing substrates improves processing quality during separation or punching of such substrates. The device has a first processing cylinder and a second processing cylinder for treating substrates, and between which the substrate can be inserted. The substrate undergoes processing as it passes through the cylinder nip between the processing cylinders by use of tool parts that are active therein, and which may be chosen from a group composed of cutting tools, punching tools, creasing tools, perforating tools and grooving tools. The first processing cylinder has a sheet holding system and one of the first processing cylinder and the second processing cylinder has a tool carrier for receiving a tool part. An impression cylinder, which is in surface contact with the second processing cylinder, is assigned to the second processing cylinder, on the side thereof that faces away from the first processing cylinder.

摘要: The invention relates to a method and a device for arranging sheets in an overlapping position in a transfer unit arranged between a first processing station and a second processing station following the first processing station in a transport direction of the sheets. The sheets to be overlapped are transported from the first processing station to the transfer unit, in a transport plane and each individually lying behind one another. A respective rear, in the transport direction, edge of the sheets coming from the first processing station, is raised relative to the transport plane exclusively by the use of blown air, and a second subsequent sheet is slid under the rear edge of the respective preceding first sheet.

摘要: A method for operating a device that applies a force to a print sheet during a folding operation, wherein the print sheet is in a specified starting position prior to the folding operation. Braking-force triggering pulses are directed toward the print sheet to counter the acceleration of the print sheet in the starting phase of the folding operation and/or to counter fluttering movements that occur during the intake of the print sheet. The pulses exert an intermittent, uniform or oscillating force onto at least a section of the print sheet. The pulses are controlled by a control unit which operates based on control profiles resulting from queried operating parameters and/or based on stored control profiles.

摘要: A roller member includes an endless belt elastically deformable and configured to convey a sheet and a holding unit holding the endless belt. The holding unit includes a first holding portion being in contact with an inner circumferential surface of the endless belt, a second holding portion being in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the endless belt and movable with respect to the first holding portion, and an engage portion engaging with an engaged portion. The second holding portion is moved with respect to the first holding portion by resilient force of the endless belt in a state in which the second holding portion is in contact with the outer circumferential surface of the endless belt in response to a disengagement of the engage portion from the engaged portion.

摘要: A sheet-transport drum includes at least two sheet-supporting surfaces with suction openings. Each respective sheet-supporting surface is formed of first and second comb segments with segment teeth. Suction grooves are provided in the segment teeth and a trailing-edge suction groove is provided in the sheet-supporting surface of each respective second comb segment. A rotary valve is provided for a timed supply of suction air. A plurality of vacuum sources is provided and a trailing-edge suction groove is assigned to each respective vacuum source by the rotary valve. This ensures that the vacuum provided by a respective trailing-edge suction groove at the trailing edge of a respective sheet is reliably maintained even if a previous or following sheet is missing. A sheet-fed printing machine with the sheet-transport drum is also provided.

摘要: A printing unit has a printing form cylinder, an impression cylinder opposite the printing form cylinder and at least one substrate carrier apparatus with which a printing substrate is moved through between the printing form cylinder and the impression cylinder, wherein the substrate is printed in a printing region between the two cylinders. The substrate carrier apparatus is moved linearly during a uniform rotation of the two cylinders along a linearly extending track, limited in length by a longitudinal extension of the printing unit. The substrate carrier apparatus is accelerated from a resting start position to an operating speed, to be reached upon reaching the printing region, the substrate carrier apparatus is moved at least in the printing region at constant speed, and the substrate carrier apparatus is decelerated after leaving the printing region to a resting end position on the track.
