    摘要: A roofing membrane material is disclosed. The material is characterized in that it includes a woven or non-woven fibrous mat encapsulated within a non-adhesive asphalt coating, the resulting encapsulated mat having an adhesive asphalt layer applied to one surface thereof. An acrylic coating is applied to the surface of the encapsulated mat that is not in contact with the adhesive asphalt layer. The resulting membrane, when applied to a roofing deck, provides a high traction surface that will not adhere to shingles and provides an effective waterproofing seal on the roofing deck.

    摘要: This invention is directed to a multi-layer laminated shingle, wherein each shingle layer comprises granule and bituminous coated web, with the layers laminated together and with the butt zone of the base layer disposed against a bottom surface of the tab zone of the secondary layer and with the tab zone of the base layer disposed against the bottom surface of the butt zone of the secondary layer. The shingle lends itself to having tabs spaced by voids. Because the tabs in the base layer are inverted, the base layer's butt zone is visible through voids in the tabs of the secondary layer. The method of making the shingle lends itself to complementally cutting out the tabs of two side-by-side shingles from a given line. Enhanced nailing area is provided, and stacking of shingles for packaging is facilitated.

    摘要: A method of waterproofing or damp proofing a protected member having a surface with a sulfur-extended plastomer asphalt binder composition uses a sulfur-extended plastomer asphalt binder composition that includes elemental sulfur, a plastomer and an asphalt binder. The method includes the steps of combining the plastomer with the asphalt binder maintained at a plastomer mixing temperature such that an intermediate asphalt binder mixture forms, and combining elemental sulfur with the intermediate asphalt binder maintained at a sulfur mixing temperature such that the sulfur-extended plastomer asphalt binder composition forms. The method also includes the step of applying the sulfur-extended plastomer asphalt binder composition to the surface of the protected member such that the sulfur-extended plastomer asphalt binder composition contacts, adheres to and forms a layer upon the surface of the protected member. The asphalt binder composition is applied at a temperature no greater than 150° C.
