摘要: A light-control window covering includes a first sheet of sheer material and a second sheet of sheer material spaced apart from the first sheer sheet of material. A plurality of vanes having a first face and a second face, a center region and a first and a second longitudinal margin. The vanes include perforations proximate the first and second longitudinal margins. A plurality of thermoplastic ribbons are welded to the first and second sheets of sheer material and the vanes to provide a stronger weld between the sheer materials and the vanes.

摘要: A pearlescent honeycomb material and an apparatus and method for making expandable pearlescent honeycomb structures suitable for use as window coverings. In one embodiment, a pearlescent material is prepared and then folded into tubular strips. These folded tubular strips with adhesive lines applied to them are fed continuously through a cutter which cuts them into predetermined lengths. The cut strips are then accelerated to a stacker for further processing before the next cut strip arrives. In another embodiment, webs of material are fed continuously in a downstream direction, adhesive lines are applied, a middle web is slitted into strips, and the strips bonded along opposite edges to the outer webs. By choosing for the outer webs transparent or porous material, and for the middle web opaque material, a light or air controlling honeycomb structure results.

摘要: An expandable collapsible product is made by providing a pleated sheet (8,10) having legs (20) which are made by securing two parts of a fold (17) together. Two sheets are combined by securing the end of a leg (20) to a crease (16) or a leg (20) of an opposite sheet. The sheet material is folded to prefereably provide alternating taller folds (17) and shorter folds (16), and the taller folds are modified to provide the legs (20) by gluing parts of the taller folds (17) together. Gluing is accomplished by moving glue heads across the sheet at high velocity through the use of linear motors. The glue lines are heated after being laid down by the use of electro-magnetic radiation, preferably from a high-powered laser. The finished product is used as insulated window coverings, or the like.
