Abstract:
Described is a cylinder (1) for high pressure compressed fluids comprising a first hollow body (2) having an opening (2a) towards the outside (100) forming with the relative internal cavity a first housing space (2b) for a compressed fluid; at least one second hollow body (3) having an opening (3a) towards the outside (100) and forming with the relative internal cavity a second housing space (3b) for a compressed fluid which is separate and different from the first housing space (2b). The second hollow body (3) is housed inside the first hollow body (2) in such a way as to define a first housing chamber (6) and a second housing chamber (7). The first and second chambers (6, 7) have, respectively, an opening (2a, 3a) towards the outside (100) at the head end (4) of the cylinder (1) and at least the first or the second hollow body (2, 3) has at a bottom end (5) a bottom opening (“C”) which is normally closed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to apparatus and methods for winding filament to create a structure. In one embodiment, the invention includes the application of filament to a rotating mandrel to create a desired shape. The invention includes the filament winding of both simple and complex shapes.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a part having a resin-impregnated fiber layer (4) formed by hardening resin-impregnated fiber has a forming procedure for forming the resin-impregnated fiber layer (4). The forming procedure includes a winding process for winding a predetermined amount of the resin-impregnated fiber and a gelling process for gelling the resin in the wound portion of the resin-impregnated fiber. In the forming procedure, the winding process is performed again after the winding process and the gelling process are performed, whereby a predetermined amount of the resin-impregnated fiber is wound on the gelled resin-impregnated fiber.
Abstract:
N-heterocyclic carbenes are effective catalysts for the polymerization of macrocyclic polyester oligomers. The catalysts provide rapid polymerization, high monomer conversion, high molecular weight, and a mechanically sound material.
Abstract:
A method of making a wound glass filament web, the method including forming a plurality of continuous glass filaments, winding the filaments on a drum, and contacting the filaments with an aqueous binder composition having a pH of at least 4.0 and including an aqueous carboxy functional polymer and a condensation catalyst.
Abstract:
A two roll impregnator for impregnating fiber reinforcement for use in filament winding operatives contains two abutting rolls, at least one and preferably both having an elastomeric surface. Resin is constrained within a bath whose lower surfaces are defined by the abutting rollers and side dams. Fiber reinforcement is drawn over a first roller through the resin bath and between the closed nip of the abutting rollers, where full impregnation is fostered, excess resin removed, and the impregnated fiber degassed. Substantially dripless operation can be maintained.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of forming hybrid and composite filters, which are more durable than that of the prior art. The method of forming a hybrid tubular filter includes wrapping a first layer of fiber, wrapping a filtering material and then wrapping a second layer of fiber. A mandrel is retained in a lathe chuck or the like and an end of fiber is attached to the mandrel. A fiber guide moves parallel to a length of the mandrel according to the direction of a control device. The method of forming a composite tubular filter includes wrapping a first layer of fiber around a mandrel.
Abstract:
A pultrusion machine for forming a laminated composite with a predetermined profile and the product obtained. The apparatus comprises at least two spools for supplying elongated reinforcements. A collator receives the elongated reinforcements and arranges the reinforcements in layered relationship to form a layered elongated bundle. A supply member wets the layered elongated bundle with plastisol to form a wetted elongated bundle. The wetted elongated bundle is transported through a pultrusion die wherein the wetted layered bundle is molded into the predetermined profile. A converting apparatus cures, or converts, the wetted layered bundle into the layered composite. A particularly preferred embodiment is an extrusion comprising a reinforcing material wherein said reinforcing material comprises a fiber reinforced plastisol.
Abstract:
Compounds containing a lanthanide rare earth element or yttrium are effective catalysts for the polymerization of macrocyclic polyester oligomers. The catalysts are stable at elevated temperatures, and the polymerization is rapid, resulting in high monomer conversion, high molecular weight, and a mechanically sound material.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a unitary run flat tire (RFT) reinforcement using filament material that is formed into a relatively rigid shape. The reinforcement is insertable into a mold for an RFT support and can maintain the needed structural rigidity for such insertion. Further, the invention provides an RFT support that is molded and includes the RFT reinforcement. The invention also provides a wheel assembly including a tire, a rim, and an RFT support between the rim and the tire, where the support includes the RFT reinforcement. The RFT support can have a colored indicator formed or subsequently applied thereto to indicate one or more attributes of the support.
