    摘要: Method and apparatus are provided for processing and changing the physical characteristics of a metal workpiece into a final metal component. Predetermined processing parameters are established for achieving a final metal component. The metal workpiece is positioned securely on a support during the changing of the physical characteristics. Impacts are applied to a surface of the workpiece multiple times for achieving the final metal component while controlling the impacting with the predetermined processing parameters. A sensor is provided for continuously sensing the currently existing physical conditions of the workpiece during impacting. The predetermined processing parameters are changed into adjusted processing parameters and the impacts are changed in reaction to the currently existing physical conditions of the workpiece from the sensing and processing of the workpiece until the final metal component has been achieved.

The apparatus includes a roll which is engageable with the peripheral surface of a log to be rotated thereby for measuring the current log peripheral speed and a device connected to a carriage feeding screw for monitoring the current log diameter. The knife carriage feed is effected in accordance with the log rotational speed which is determined by the current log diameter and the current log peripheral speed so that a veneer knife on the carriage cuts into the log peripheral surface for a predetermined distance for each turn of said log.

    摘要: A distance sensor is arranged to be moveable relative to a workpiece, during a machining operation this movement having a limit at a position where a finished workpiece would be within an accurate measuring range of the sensor. As machining progresses the sensor is moved towards the workpiece, stopping either when the separation of sensor and workpiece reaches a pre-set value of when the sensor reaches the limit of its movement. If the separation of sensor and workpiece reaches the pre-set value the sensor is moved away from the workpiece and then towards it again, repeating the cycle. If the sensor reaches the limit of its movement it remains in this position and measures its separation from the workpiece for the remainder of the machining operation.

    摘要: A sanding and polishing machine for individual workpieces having an infeed conveyor for carrying workpieces along a predetermined path through one or more tandemly arranged working stations for exposure to a series of endless abrasive belts. The abrasive belt contacts the workpiece under the influence of a multi-segmented platen, with each platen segment being arranged for adjustable positioning relative to the plane of the surface of the workpiece. Positioning of each individual platen segment is accomplished by virtue of the combination of a workpiece sensor together with an adjustable selected input supplementing the workpiece sensor so that one or more platen segments disposed adjacent to those segments actuated by the workpiece sensing units are also actuated, thus increasing the number of segments responding to the presence of workpieces in the working station and either symmetrically or asymmetrically enhancing the sensed width of the workpiece.

    摘要: An electronic control apparatus for internal grinders wherein, with the workpiece fitted on slippers, a hole diameter gauger is provided. The gauger consists of two symmetric, linear transducers, by which the positions of both ends of a diameter are separately sensed. A measuring instrument is provided along the axis of wheelhead unit feeds, referred to the diamond truing position. The above defined electronic, control apparatus includes means by which the displacements of rotation axis from one, to another workpiece, caused by the changes in the diameter of same piece, are obtained from the signals of the two linear transducers. An analogic inverter, by which the sign of signal of one of the transducers is reversed, and an analogic adder, in which said reversed sign signal and the signal of other transducer are added with one another are provided. Means are provided for deriving the position of truing diamond relative to workpiece (considered along the axis of feeds), from the gaugings of hole diameter, from the traversings of grinding wheel, and from the traversings of workpiece rotation axis. Means are included for the utilization of results of the measurements and of the position, for controlling the operating cycle. When the workpiece is not fitted on slippers, the means as herein before stated, for deriving the displacements of rotation axis from one, to another workpiece, caused by the changes in the O.D. of same piece, from the signals of the two linear transducers, are not included in the electronic control apparatus.
