Abstract: A system and method for acid gas separations using porous frameworks of metal atoms coordinatively bound to polytopic linkers that are functionalized with basic nitrogen ligands that expose nitrogen atoms to the pore volumes forming adsorption sites. Adjacent basic nitrogen ligands on the metal-organic framework can form an ammonium from one ligand and a carbamate from the other. The formation of one ammonium carbamate pair influences the formation of ammonium carbamate on adjacent adsorption sites. Adsorption of acid gas at the adsorption sites form covalently linked aggregates of more than one ammonium carbamate ion pair. The acid gas adsorption isotherm can be tuned to match the step position with the partial pressure of acid gas in the gas mixture stream through manipulation of the metal-ligand bond strength by selection of the ligand, metal and polytopic linker materials.

Abstract: Process for the joint production of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate crystals, according to which: a solid powder derived from sodium sesquicarbonate, having a mean particle diameter comprised between 0.1 and 10 mm is dissolved in water; the resulting water solution is introduced into a crystallizer, wherein a first water suspension comprising sodium carbonate crystals is produced; the first water suspension is subjected to a separation, in order to produce crystals comprising sodium carbonate on the one hand, which are valorized, and a mother liquor on the other hand; and a part of the mother liquor is taken out of the crystallizer and put into contact in, a gas liquid contactor, with a gas comprising carbon dioxide, in order to produce a second water suspension comprising sodium bicarbonate crystals, which are separated and valorized. A reagent powder comprising sodium bicarbonate crystals made by such process.

Abstract: A fossil fuel fired power plant exhaust gas clean-up system is provided to remove detrimental compounds/elements from the exhaust gas emitting from the power plant to protect the environment. This is accomplished primarily by directing the exhaust gas from a fossil fuel fired power plant through both a reaction chamber containing a chemically produced compound and a catalytic converter. The final exhaust gas can now be safely exhausted to the atmosphere and only contains nitrogen gas, oxygen, water and a trace amount of carbon dioxide.

Abstract: A flue gas treatment device is provided. A wet electrostatic precipitator and a flue gas heater are integrated in an integrated flue housing of the flue gas treatment device, thus the occupied area of the flue gas treatment device is smaller than that of the solution with devices being arranged separately. Furthermore, since a bidirectional transition flue is not required to be arranged in the integrated flue housing, the flue gas has a good flow uniformity, and further it is not required to arrange a flow equalization orifice plate in the flue, thus the flue gas has a small resistance, thereby reducing the power consumption of the draught fan and increasing the efficiency of the power plant.

Abstract: Coal-derived mineral matter is used to capture or remove combustion gas emissions from flue gas or exhaust gas. The coal-derived mineral matter may be obtained by separating it from coal particles, such as by use of a flotation separation process. Coal-derived mineral matter may also be present in fine coal refuse. In the method of removing combustion gas emissions from flue gas, an aqueous suspension of coal-derived mineral matter particles is contacted with the combustion gas emissions for sufficient time to cause the combustion gas emissions to react with the aqueous suspension and form an enhanced aqueous suspension. The combustion gas emissions may comprise NOx, SOx, CO, or mixtures thereof. An aqueous suspension of coal-derived mineral matter particles containing enhanced amounts of soluble and insoluble sulfate, sulfite, nitrate, nitrite, or carbonate reaction compounds formed by reaction of the aqueous suspension of the coal-derived mineral matter particles with combustion gas emissions.
