摘要: The invention relates to a rotary evaporator comprising a rotary drive and a fastening device attached to the rotary drive and having a receiving space for receiving an evaporator flask rotatable by the rotary drive, wherein the fastening device comprises a connector section, in particular a ring-shaped connector section, at the rotary drive side and a retainer element, in particular a ring-shaped retainer element, at the evaporator flask side that coupled to the connector section and that is rotatable relative to the connector section between a starting position and an end position. The fastening device comprises at least one clamping element that is moved, on the rotation of the retainer element relative to the connector section from the starting position into the end position, from a release position radially inwardly into a holding position in which the respective clamping element projects into the receiving space to hold a flange-shaped connection region of an evaporator flask received in the receiving space of the fastening device in a form-fitting and/or force-fitting manner and to secure it against a removal from the receiving space.

摘要: A method of separating a high boiling component from a mixture containing organic and/or inorganic boiling components which method involves providing an induction heated screw conveyor having an auger and passing the mixture through the induction heated screw conveyor while inductively heating the auger so as to heat the mixture in the induction heated screw conveyor. The mixture is heated to a temperature that is sufficient to cause the boiling component(s) to separate from the mixture as a vapor and the boiling component is removed from the induction heated screw conveyor.

摘要: An evaporator is provided for evaporation of liquid from a solution or liquid mixtures, together with methods of operation of the evaporator. The evaporator comprises a chamber (1); a liquid reservoir (3) for holding a heat transfer liquid exposed to the interior of the chamber; a support (6) for supporting a container (8) in the chamber, such that the liquid sample in the container is exposed to a fluid path (15) for connection to a condenser (16), the fluid path being separated from the chamber interior, and at least a portion of the container is closely thermally coupled to the chamber interior; and means (4) for heating the heat transfer liquid in the reservoir to create heat transfer liquid vapour, which in use condenses and releases latent heat of vaporisation to the liquid sample in the container. As the temperature of the sample is dependent on the saturated vapour temperature of the liquid in the reservoir, the temperature of the samples is reliably limited, thereby avoiding overheating. High levels of heat energy may be delivered controllably to the samples, enabling a high evaporation rate to be achieved at relatively low temperature.

摘要: A method and apparatus for separating the components of a feed material prior to or simultaneously with at least partially vaporizing one of the components is described. The apparatus comprises at least one inlet (8) for admitting the feed material (10) containing the two components to the apparatus (2) wherein a device for introducing a first movement to the feed material is located, such as, for example, an in-line swirl generator (14), which imparts a swirling movement to the feed material to partially separate the components into two swirling flows. The partially separated material on emerging from the in-line swirl generator (14) is in an evaporation tube (20) in which the more volatile component is vaporized to further assist in separating the two components into a liquid component and a gaseous or vapor component. The liquid component and the vapor phase are discharged from the apparatus in two streams through the same outlet (36). Modifications of the method and apparatus include (i) having multiple evaporation tubes (20), each optionally provided with its own in-line swirl generator to facilitate better distribution and separation of the feed material, and (ii) having a reject nozzle (40) and reject conduit (42) located within the generator for allowing passage of vapor or gas through the in-line swirl generator (14) when there is an intermediate flow formed in the generator (14) and conveyed to the evaporation tube (20). The method and apparatus of this application are used as a pre-treatment in an overall separation plant.

摘要: A distillation unit (10) employs a fluid circuit (FIG. 8) in which a counterflow heat exchanger (102, 104, 106, 108, 110) transfers heat from condensate and concentrate to feed liquid to be distilled. The pumping system (100, 238) that drives fluid through the circuit is arranged to keep the pressure in the counterflow heat exchanger's condensate higher than that in its feed-liquid passage. This tends to discourage the contamination that could otherwise occur in the concentrate if the fluid isolation ordinarily maintained between those passages is compromised.

摘要: A method of evaporating liquid from a liquid and solid solution in a container within a chamber involves moving the container in an orbital motion such that the solution forms a vortex configuration within the container and also involves directing gas into the container. The gas is directed into the container from a point source above the liquid in the container to decrease the partial pressure on the solution thereby increasing the evaporation rate of the liquid from the solution. To further increase evaporation of the liquid, heat may be applied to the container. The temperature within the chamber may be regulated by sensing the temperature within the chamber and controlling the application of heat to the container in response to the temperature sensed within the chamber. An alternative method of evaporating liquid from a liquid and solid solution in a container within a chamber also involves moving the container in an orbital motion, but further involves drawing a vacuum within the chamber rather than directing gas into the container.
