摘要: Tumors in portions of a subject's body that have a longitudinal axis (e.g., the torso, head, and arm) can be treated with TTFields by affixing first and second sets of electrodes at respective positions that are longitudinally prior to and subsequent to a target region. An AC voltage with a frequency of 100-500 kHz is applied between these sets of electrodes. This imposes an AC electric field with field lines that run through the target region longitudinally. The field strength is at least 1 V/cm in at least a portion of the target region. In some embodiments, this approach is combined with the application of AC electric fields through the target region in a lateral direction (e.g., front to back and/or side to side) in order to apply AC electric fields with different orientations to the target region.

摘要: A method of reducing or eliminating vertigo symptoms in an individual experiencing vertigo or an individual identified as being susceptible to vertigo is disclosed. The method includes positioning a non-invasive nerve stimulation device on the individual's wrist, wherein the electrodes of the non-invasive nerve stimulation device are in electrically conductive contact with skin at acupuncture point P6 of the wrist. The methods also include generating a stimulation signal and delivering the stimulation signal to the acupuncture point P6 of the wrist to prevent, reduce or eliminate one or more vertigo symptoms in the individual. The vertigo symptoms may include a feeling of spinning, tilting, swaying, or being unbalanced or pulled to one direction, vomiting, abnormal or jerking eye movements (nystagmus), headache, sweating, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, visual disturbances, weakness, difficulty speaking, a decreased level of consciousness, and difficulty walking.

摘要: An active molecule delivery system whereby active molecules can be released on demand and/or a variety of different active molecules can be delivered from the same system and/or different concentrations of active molecules can be delivered from the same system. The active delivery system includes a plurality of microcells, wherein the microcells are filled with a medium for delivering the active molecules. In some embodiments the medium includes active molecules dispersed in a first charged phase as well as a second phase that is oppositely charged or uncharged and immiscible with the first phase. Where the medium includes a charged first phase, the first phase can be moved adjacent to, or away from, the porous diffusion layer in order to control the rate of delivery.

摘要: An active transdermal medicament patch includes a planar substrate with a therapeutic face releasably retainable against the skin of a patient. A return electrode and a medicament matrix susceptible to permeation by medicament are secured at separated locations on the therapeutic face and electrically conductively engage the skin. A detector monitors iontophoretic medicament migration into the skin. An integrator operating on the output of the detector produces a running cumulative total of the amount of medicament delivered during a plurality of temporally non-contiguous therapy subsessions. A circuit breaker terminates medicament migration, when the output of the integrator equals a predetermined medicament quantity. A timer active during medicament migration stimulates a driver to operate a light-emitting diode in a distinct delivery confirmation mode during each a sequence of non-overlapping predetermined therapy subsessions, respectively. A circuit board on the substrate in a compact, folded state bears interconnected electrical circuit components.
