摘要: A system for controlled delivery of medical fluids to a patient includes an inlet conduit attached to a source of a medical fluid and an outlet conduit connected to the patient. The inlet and outlet conduits are interconnected by a multiple stage control valve assembly and a pair of syringes. The control valve assembly is alternated between a first state wherein the inlet conduit communicates with a first syringe for transmitting fluid from the source to the first syringe, a second state wherein the first syringe communicates with a second syringe and is isolated from the inlet conduit and the outlet for transmitting fluid from the first syringe to the second syringe, and a third state wherein the second syringe communicates with the outlet and is isolated from the inlet and the first syringe for transmitting fluid from the second syringe to the patient through the outlet.

摘要: A gas mixing system for providing mixed gas for intraocular injection. In some embodiments, a first fixed-volume chamber is automatically purged and filled with gas from a first gas supply input, to a first predetermined pressure. A second fixed-volume chamber is purged and filled with gas from a second gas supply input, to a second predetermined pressure. The first and second predetermined pressures are determined based on a desired concentration of gases in the final mix, and the respective volumes of the first and second fixed-volume chambers and of a third fixed-volume chamber. Gas from the first fixed-volume chamber is then allowed to mix with gas in the third fixed-volume chamber, which was previously purged. Next, gas from the second fixed-volume chamber is allowed to mix with gas in the third fixed-volume chamber. Finally, the mixture of gases in the third fixed-volume chamber is expressed into an intraocular syringe.

摘要: System for gas treatment of cellular implants. The system enhances the viability and function of cellular implants, particularly those with high cellular density, for use in human or veterinary medicine. The system utilizes a miniaturized electrochemical gas generator subsystem that continuously supplies oxygen and/or hydrogen to cells within an implantable and immunoisolated cell containment subsystem to facilitate cell viability and function at high cellular density while minimizing overall implant size. The cell containment subsystem is equipped with features to allow gas delivery through porous tubing or gas-only permeable internal gas compartments within the implantable cell containment subsystem. Furthermore, the gas generator subsystem includes components that allow access to water for electrolysis while implanted, thereby promoting long-term implantability of the gas generator subsystem. An application of the system is a pancreatic islet (or pancreatic islet analogue) implant for treatment of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) that would be considered a bio-artificial pancreas.

摘要: A dedicated device for detection of vascular shunts can include a first chamber, a second chamber, and a third chamber. The first chamber can be configured to hold liquid, the second chamber to hold gas, and the third chamber can be in communication with the first and second chambers. The third chamber can include small-scale geometric features configured to produce gas bubbles as liquid from the first chamber and gas from the second chamber simultaneously flow into the third chamber. The device can also include a device opening in communication with the third chamber such that a mixture of liquid and gas bubbles can flow out of the device opening. The device can also include a plunger configured to force the liquid and the gas simultaneously from the first and second chambers, through the third chamber to mix with each other and produce bubbles, and further through the device opening.

The syringe mechanism includes: a liquid syringe filled with liquid in a cylinder thereof, a piston inserted into a top of the cylinder, a discharge portion formed at a bottom portion of the cylinder, and screw threads formed around the discharge portion; and an injecting member having a cylindrical body portion, an inlet portion formed to be inserted and coupled with the discharge portion at a top end of the cylindrical body portion, and a coupling portion formed to be coupled with the screw threads around the inlet portion, the screw threads and the coupling portion rotated and inserted so as to be fastened to the liquid syringe so that liquid is injected into the top portion of the body portion via the liquid syringe.
