    Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for a lighting controller for sea lice detection. In some implementations, fish are contained within an elliptical tank filled with water. An imaging station located on the elliptical tank is used to capture an image of a fish from which image analysis can be performed to detect sea lice or other skin features, including lesions, on the fish. Pairs of imaging assemblies coordinate pulsing light of at least a first and a second color and capturing images of the fish while the fish is illuminated by at least the first and the second color. By using the captured images with different color light, computers can detect features on the body of a fish including sea lice, skin lesions, shortened operculum or other physical deformities and skin features. Detection results can aid in mitigation techniques or be stored for analytics. For example, sea lice detection results can inform targeted treatments comprised of lasers, fluids, or mechanical devices such as a brush or suction.

    Abstract: An overflow box and a filter system for an aquarium are disclosed which quiets the removal of waste water from an aquarium. The aquarium has a bottom wall, a sidewall, a first aperture formed through the sidewall, and a peripheral rim. The overflow box has a bottom wall, a front wall, a back wall and two sidewalls. The front wall has a first opening formed therethrough which is coaxially aligned with the first aperture formed in the sidewall of the aquarium. The bottom wall of the overflow box has a plurality of slip fittings formed therein. The plurality of slip fittings are of at least three different sizes. One of the slip fittings is open to water flow while the remaining slip fittings are initially closed to water flow by a thin wall. The overflow box also has an open top.

    Abstract: A rail system for a modular reptile and small animal cage comprises a plurality of squared elongate channels, each channel having an X-shaped cross-section that includes: four arrowhead tips pointing to the corners of a square with a gap between adjacent arrowhead tips defining a slot for holding a cage side panel or a cage accessory. When combined with a plurality of side panels, bottom and top panel, these slotted elongate channels can be used to make an expandable, modular reptile/small animal cage. A method for making such cages is also disclosed.

    Abstract: An aquarium filtering and purifying system includes an upper display tank and a lower filter tank. The water from the upper tank can be delivered to the lower tank to a filter, such as within a surrounding filter fabric or membrane, such as a filter sock. An air tube can also be inserted into the filter tank to an unfiltered side of the filter, such as within the filter sock, to deliver air bubbles into the filter tank. The air tube can have an air stone at the end thereof to diffuse the air bubbles. Further air stones can be provided on an outside of the sock in the first compartment. Filtered water is delivered to a second compartment in the filter tank. The next compartment can have sand, and/or rocks and/or algae and/or a clean-up crew to assist in purifying the water. Water from the second compartment then passes to a third compartment, through a bubble trap, and then is pumped back to the display tank. Alternatively, the first compartment can be provided with a macro algae bed instead of a filter sock.

    Abstract: A kit for an aquarium aquaponic assembly is disclosed. The kit comprises generally an aquarium module, a garden module, a reservoir module, drain conduits fluidly connecting the modules and a pump. The reservoir module has a top opening adapted to receive and maintained both the aquarium module and at least one garden module. Each garden module supports terrestrial plants and is located directly adjacent to one side of the aquarium module and located below a predetermined operating water level of the aquarium module. The aquarium module comprises a transparent tank adapted to be partially supported by the reservoir module. The system is designed such that the waste water from the aquarium module flows to the garden module for irrigating and feeding the plants. The waste water flowing from the garden module is filtered and directed to the reservoir module then pumped back to the aquarium module.
