Abstract: A control system for a hybrid vehicle is provided with an abnormality detection unit, a start determination unit, and a start control unit. The abnormality detection unit detects abnormality in at least one of an engine, a first clutch, and an automatic transmission. The start determination unit determines whether or not to allow the engine to be started, and the start control unit controls to start the engine. If an abnormality has been detected by the abnormality detection unit, the start determination unit inhibits the start control unit from starting the engine, and maintains the inhibition even when the abnormality has been eliminated, when the accelerator pedal opening is larger than a predetermined value.

Abstract: When a restart of an engine is performed due to the requirement of a vehicle state unintended by a driver, a creep force which is initially generated is suppressed to a small value so that a vehicle is prevented from moving off. When automatic stop conditions are satisfied, the engine 1 stops, and when restart conditions are satisfied, a starting motor 2 is started so as to restart an engine 1. A condition for engine restart unintended by the driver is determined, and during a predetermined time when the engine restarts unintended by the driver, a smaller creep drive force is generated than when the engine restarts which is intended by the driver. During this predetermined time, only the motor 2 is rotated without starting the engine, and the creep force is suppressed low.

Abstract: In a vehicle which has an automatic stop/restart device of the engine 1, the engine 1 is started rapidly only in cases where a quick start of the engine 1 is required such as when the vehicle is stationary on a rising slope, or cuts across the opposite lane for a left turn. For this purpose, excitation of an motor 2 is performed before startup of the motor 2 for restarting the engine 1 quickly. When automatic stop conditions are satisfied, the engine 1 stops, and when restart conditions are satisfied, the motor 2 is started to restart the engine 1. When the vehicle is on a rising slope and it is required to start the vehicle quickly, the motor 2 is energized first before the motor 2 is started. Also, when it is determined that the vehicle must start rapidly such as when the vehicle is trying to cut across the opposite lane for a left turn, the motor 2 is excited before it starts. In this way, when it is desired to start, the vehicle quickly, a rapid restart of the engine 1 and therefore rapid start of the vehicle is possible.
