Abstract: Systems and methods described herein improve a customer experience by enabling a user equipment (UE) device to accurately display a premium network icon based on network signaling. A network device stores configuration thresholds for supporting a premium cellular service and monitors network conditions against the configuration thresholds. When the network conditions meet at least one of the configuration thresholds, the network device provides to the UE device a signal for the UE device to present a premium network icon to a user.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide reliable voice connections dual-connectivity environments, given limitations of available spectrum. A system includes a first wireless station and a second wireless station. The first wireless station provides a shared spectrum of a first frequency band, the shared spectrum including a first spectrum for a first cellular wireless standard and a second spectrum for a second cellular wireless standard. The second wireless station is at least partially within a coverage area of the first wireless station and provides a third spectrum for the second cellular wireless standard. The third spectrum is a millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum. The first wireless station broadcasts a parameter barring an end device in an idle mode from camping on the second spectrum. The first wireless station or the second wireless station triggers the end device to swap to the second spectrum when a paging request for a voice call is received.

Abstract: In some implementations, a first network device may receive an authorization request associated with a user device connecting to a network associated with first network device. The first network device may redirect the authorization request toward a second network device associated with a second service provider. The first network device may determine, based on a response to the authorization request, that the user device is subscribed to a service provided by the second service provider and that the user device is not authorized to connect to the network. The first network device may provide a temporary service to the user device to enable the user device to connect to the network for a limited period based on the user device being subscribed to the service provided by the second service provider and the user device not being authorized to connect to the network.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein improve a customer experience for non-standalone cellular networks by displaying a secondary cell group (SCG) network icon after data activity ends while a user device likely remains in SCG coverage. When connected to the SCG, the user device detects inactivity on the connection and initiates a first timer, based on the detecting, while continuing to present an SCG-related icon. If the first timer expires while the user device is in an idle state, the user device initiates a second timer, while continuing to present the SCG-related icon. If the user device detects an active connection before expiration of the second timer, the user device initiates a third timer while continuing to present the SCG-related icon. If the user device fails to detect a connection to the SCG before expiration of the third timer, a master cell group (MCG)-related icon is displayed.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may establish a wireless connection with a WiFi network, and may perform a measurement associated with a fifth generation (5G) ultra-wideband radio access network. The UE may determine whether the measurement satisfies a signal strength threshold, and may selectively perform a first action or a second action based on whether the measurement satisfies the signal strength threshold. The first action may include providing an indication of an availability of the 5G ultra-wideband radio access network, for display, when the measurement satisfies the signal strength threshold. The second action may include maintaining the wireless connection when the measurement fails to satisfy the signal strength threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein use group segmentation of applications (referred to herein as “slicing classes”), based on common service requirements, to allow carriers to assign UE traffic to network slices. A UE stores slicing class definitions for use with UE Route Selection Policies (URSP). Each of the slicing class definitions include network quality of service (QoS) characteristics that are applicable to network traffic for multiple software applications. The UE maps the software applications to corresponding slicing class identifiers associated with the slicing class definitions. The UE also stores URSP rules for associating a slicing class identifier with a network slice identifier. A UE operating system sends, to a modem, one of the slicing class identifiers for an application that is requesting attachment to a wireless network. The modem sends a registration request with a selected network slice identifier based on the received slicing class identifier and the URSP rules.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can determine that a thermal condition or a battery condition is satisfied with regard to the UE, wherein the UE is associated with a 4G/Long Term Evolution (4G/LTE) connection and a 5G/New Radio (5G/NR) connection; determine whether the 5G/NR connection is to be activated or deactivated based on the thermal condition or the battery condition; transmit a tracking area update request based on determining that the thermal condition or the battery condition is satisfied; transmit capability information, wherein, when the 5G/NR connection is to be activated, the capability information indicates a 5G/NR capability of the UE, and wherein, when the 5G/NR connection is to be deactivated, the capability information does not indicate the 5G/NR capability of the UE; and deactivate or activate a 5G/NR modem of the UE based on determining that the thermal condition or the battery condition is satisfied.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may include a memory storing instructions and processor configured to execute the instructions to receive a first reconfiguration message from a wireless station of a radio access network to attempt to place the UE device into a first power saving state. The UE device may be further configured to execute the instructions to determine that a battery level is below a first predetermined threshold; transmit, to the wireless station, a second power savings request when it is determined that the battery level is below the predetermined threshold, to place the UE device into a second power saving state; receive a second reconfiguration message from the wireless station based on the second power savings request; and execute adjustments in the second reconfiguration message to place the UE device into the second power saving state.
